Well that was a blast. The Hornby Enduro is always a bit of a fitness reality check haha. So good though!

Had my girls there cheering me on, and had some of my alumni athletes take care of me during the race (Pat eat these gummies, Pat don't bonk, Pat stop using your brakes so much).

Thanks Candice and Ripley Nolan for being the best cheer squad ever.

Thanks Tyler, Eli, and Denny for being my spirit guides out there on the trails, appreciate you guys and your unlimited energy and stoke 🙌 by @patrick___nolan

Another ride by Ross, this guy always delivers. What trail was this? I have no idea. But we did ride one called 'Stache', easy one to remember.

Sharing strategies for riding terrain is one of my favorite aspects of coaching. For this one the context was skilled riders starting to explore higher risk features.

Our goal was riding it with control to manage speed and compressions. It's a bit longer than a standard roll, and conveniently has 3 sections to it, so we broke it into 'entrance' 'crux' and 'exit'.

Braking and speed matter the most in the entrance, if we can manage our momentum here, the crux becomes less intense. The crux calls for a move of some kind, today I chose to float over the compression instead of riding through it.

If we got the entrance and crux correct, then the exit is just a matter of 'weeee' and staying centered on the bike to enjoy the fastest part of the feature.

This kind of a feature can be ridden different ways by different riders of course, but for my student goals of creating confidence and managing speed and compressions, this style worked well! taken in Sooke Hills by @patrick___nolan

All the love for my family. Becoming a dad, what an adventure. To all the parents out there, dang I just didn't understand, but now I do.

Pipes didn't feel like being candid FYI

Sorry for the cheesy sap, but I've become quite the softy (I was probably always soft).

Thank you Emma for capturing a few moments with us out in sunny Sooke!

Hello Community

Writing today to share with you an update about Lucas Hoffman, a long term NR athlete, and all around incredible young man.

Lucas is a staple in our local riding scene, and many of you will immediately recognize him by his big smile, big hair, and big style on the bike!

Lucas had a serious crash earlier this month, and suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) as a result. While riding with our team at Tzouhalem, he landed a little sideways after a jump, and had a high speed impact into a hard packed flow trail.

Lucas was airlifted to VGH, and spent his time at the hospital in the ICU. During his stay at the hospital he was attended by his family 24/7, his parents Laura and Paul have handled this situation with incredible care and courage.

That being said, Lucas path to recovery will see him admitted to Sunny Hills which is a specialty rehab center related to Vancouver Children's Hospital. Lucas has made an amazing start to his recovery, but it's hard to know how long the journey will be.

That's why the family & community have started a GoFundMe to help support Laura and Paul and their family as they care for Lucas, and travel back and forth between Vancouver.

If you are able to donate or share this post, it would be greatly appreciated by everyone touched by this traumatic accident. The link to the donation page is in our bio.

Cheering for you Lucas, and believing in your strength and resilience as you heal and recover.
