Dear Dad,

4 years ago, 1,460 days, without you. Not a single one goes by where you aren’t missed.

You were and still are my best friend, my role model, the person who I could turn to at any moment with any question I could think of. There are still so many times I catch myself wanting to pick up the phone just to tell you something or ask for advice on things big and small.

I didn’t expect it to happen so quick or sudden, but I guess that’s how life goes. Even so, I like to think I’m lucky. Lucky to have had you as my dad for twenty years. Lucky for your love, guidance, and humor. Lucky for the family you helped build. Lucky for my friends who have supported me. Lucky for the goals and aspirations you have helped me to set and achieve. Lucky to watch and learn from you in every way I could think of. Lucky that I was able to spend time with you. Lucky that I got to love you.

This first photo is my dad and I at the last beach volleyball game he surprised me by coming to. Every game since then has been bittersweet. The love hate relationship I have with the sport gets to me at times, and every place I play, game I win, person I meet, time I succeed hurts me inside that I don’t get to share it with you. I don’t get to call you after my wins and games like the rest of the family, and there isn’t a moment or a time I don’t think of you as I’m going through it. It’s bittersweet in the fact that I get to live out the very dreams and success we talked about, but I have to do it without the one person I want to share it with the most.

Words can’t describe the feelings I have or emotions I feel. I want to leave this post here for myself as a reminder in all things I do, that you will be here and proud of me. That I can look at you and remember you would want me to succeed with a smile and laugh instead of tears and cries.

My dad, my father, my best friend, I love you as much as my heart can love and miss you as much as I possibly can.

Grateful.

Made my first AVP Maindraw this past weekend, in East Beach Santa Barbara! Huge thank you to @the_real_dupde for battling hard all weekend and the opportunity to play. We fought our way out of pool and lost a tough first match in playoffs.

Grateful for the opportunities, Grateful for family and friends who support me, Grateful to play this sport 🙏

First US Maindraw checked off the list! Still letting this one sink in.

This past weekend at the Hermosa Beach Open, @chrisshaffer_3 had an opportunity and took it. Battling through a brutal qualifier, we took down two really solid teams and some great buddies along the way. Just punching that ticket into the main draw brought up emotions I can’t even begin to describe. Thinking about the years I’ve poured into this sport and the incredible people I’ve met along the journey, I simply feel lucky.

Then came the main draw. We battled hard right out of the gate in our first match, but came up just short against Boremans/Schalk. From there, we had a tough matchup against Connole/Klasnic. Honestly, that was probably some of the best volleyball @chrisshaffer_3 and I have played together. We took the game in 2 sets, 21-19 21-12, and kept our tournament run alive!

Next up was Bradford/Cory. Chris played phenomenal ball, while personally I didn’t play the way I wanted to. We ground it out every single rally and finished losing 19-21 and 20-22. Looking at these scores it looks great, but those 2 points each set are what makes and breaks to the next level.

This weekend gave me more than I could’ve asked for, and I’m hungrier than ever. I love to compete and now the real work begins!💪

Pingtan BPT Futures and Shanghai🇨🇳

Definitely a trip for the books!

Not the exact result we wanted in our second tournament together, but this summer has been full of growth. Huge shoutout to @hi.leigh.808 for being an absolute stud and can’t wait for what’s ahead!

Grateful for all the amazing people, the new memories, and the incredible food I tried 😂

Qidong BPT Futures 🇨🇳

What an experience! Started off the tournament qualifier grinding through 95° weather, pulling off a 3-set win over Australia for my first FIVB BPT win! Match two pushed us to the limit. 95° with a 123° feel-like index was unreal. I have never played in conditions like this before, and it was a huge physical and mental challenge. We lost the second match to qualify in three sets after a crazy battle, but this whole experience has been so eye-opening so far.

Tahiti BPT Futures 🇵🇫

Played my first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event this past week! Ever since I started playing beach volleyball, this has been my dream.

We came up short in the first round of qualifiers against a tough Australian team, but experiences like this are what it’s all about. Learning, growing, and getting a real taste of the world level.

And it’s not just about the volleyball. It’s about the amazing people you meet, the friendships you build, and the memories you make along the way.

Grateful for every second of it.
