Magnificent Mombo @wearewilderness Goodbye Vumbura and my beloved wild dogs and the adventure carries on at Mombo - leopard fest! Just look at those flood levels we had to negotiate at Vumbura! Mombo has to be one of the most beautiful lodges in the Okavango Delta and such an abundance of amazing wildlife. I was here 20 years ago and it is still simply amazing. 🦒🐘🦁🦛🐆🦅😎 taken in Mombo by @patrick_aschan

The Okavango is absolutely extraordinary right now. These are some of the highest floodwaters seen in decades, certainly among the most spectacular in the last 30 years, and yet the game is thriving. Everywhere we look there is life, movement, and a sense that the Delta is at its magnificent best.

And then there is Vumbura. What a wonderful place. Every day here seems to reveal another layer of its beauty. From the endless waterways to the vast floodplains shimmering in the afternoon light, it is impossible not to be completely captivated by it all.

The wild dogs were out every day and always in action, whether charging through the water, hunting across the floodplains, moving effortlessly between land and lagoon, or simply being magnificent. Watching these extraordinary animals in such an extraordinary environment was a privilege. In a year of remarkable floods, seeing them so completely at home in every corner of the Delta was one of the great highlights of our time in Vumbura. Seeing the blood moon rise every night which rival the sun in the morning was quite amazing and so beautiful. . This is a very magical Lodge and the people here were fantastic and somehow with the waters still rising around us, you really did feel part of the great Okavango Delta life story… We saw every animal under the Sun, including cheetah, which clearly had wondered across the waters into not his natural habitat! #travelswiththeduchess #okavangodeltabotswana #safarilife #slowtravel 🐘🦒🦅🦁🥂🐆🐘🦓🦛 taken in Wilderness Vumbura Plains by @patrick_aschan

🦁 Little Duma Tao 🦁where elephants swim and dive for the roots of water lilies! 🐘

The land where the lions roar… and roar they did! ✨ We were treated to countless unforgettable lion sightings, but the magic didn’t stop there. 🌕

As darkness fell, we watched the incredible Blood Moon rise above the wilderness, glowing so brightly it almost rivalled the sun that rise opposite it each day. 🌙❤️ What a spectacular sight and what a glorious time Patrick and I had there.

There is something truly special about the African wilderness. 🌿✨ Arriving from the UK feeling tired and travel weary, it took no time at all for the bush to work its magic. The peace, the wildlife, the vast open spaces and the rhythm of nature begins to heal burnt out minds, setting us up for peaceful times ahead. Sleep of the dead.

A huge thank you to the incredible team who made every moment so memorable. 🙏💛 Your warmth, passion, knowledge and dedication transformed a wonderful stay into an unforgettable experience. @wearewilderness have very special people working for them and we so enjoyed our time at this beautiful Lodge. Ron, you were an amazing guide and Dips, thank you and your team for looking after us so beautifully! That boat trip and lunch! 🥂💋🍴🛥️
