🇧🇷 To my friends in Brazil, I need your help.

For more than 30 years, the Ashaninka people have stood on the front lines protecting one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. They have defended the Amazon against illegal logging, illegal mining, and increasingly, organized crime.

The cost has been devastating.

Indigenous leaders have been murdered. Families have been threatened. Communities have been forced to defend their homes while waiting for protection that often comes too late. ashaninka-30-year-threat-history-donor-briefing.pplx.pdf

Now, the danger has reached a new level.

In July 2026, armed men entered the Ashaninka village of Apiwtxa in Acre, Brazil, searching for community leaders and issuing death threats after the community blocked criminal groups from using their territory as a trafficking corridor. Brazilian authorities opened an investigation, but the community remains under threat. ashaninka-30-year-threat-history-donor-briefing.pplx.pdf

I recently spent time with Indigenous communities in South America. Their wisdom, their connection to nature, and their commitment to protecting the forests reminded me that they are not just defending their own home. They are helping protect a future that belongs to all of us.

Brazil, they need your voice now.

Please share this post. Tag your friends. Tag @LulaOficial. Ask for continued protection for the Ashaninka people and all Indigenous communities defending the Amazon.

When the protectors are under attack, the forest is under attack.
