Won an Emmy award tonight for our short documentary “One Pill” with Ace Hardware! Thank you to @xvpstudios for giving me a job over 10 years ago, allowing me to still go on auditions, and for helping me grow. And most importantly, thank you to @adimaria1 for always supporting me and, ya know… loving me. Thank you @chi_natas by @patrickdenicola

We had the absolute best family vacation to kick off our summer - Mammoth Cave National Park, Rock City, Disney World, and Louisville Slugger Museum. Our kids were more independent than ever, put down screens for the week (other than in the long car rides…we’re not masochists…) and made so many core memories. Gio loved every ride (he’s tall enough for all of them!) and declared Hollywood Studios as his new favorite park 🥹Evi tried lots of new thrill rides and our constant chant was “Evi is BRAVE!” Believe it or not, we’ve never gone to Disney just as a family of four, and it was so special. If you still watch cable TV, you might've seen this ad I was in for @wintrust bank. But just in case you're under 50, I'm posting it here as well. Super grateful to be a part of the cast. Really fun shoot and had a great time working with everyone on set! by @patrickdenicola

Twenty years ago, Jonathan and I were juniors at Emerson College, sharing an apartment in Boston with our best friend @mrdavechild. Brokeback Mountain had just come out, our comedy troupe Chocolate Cake City was in full swing, and we were all pitching Brokeback parodies — Brokeback Couch or Brokeback Laundry Room — those are the two “stand outs” I remember. At some point, I threw out “Brokeback to the Future” to the group and it landed with a thud. Nobody got it.

The next morning, I was catching Jonathan up on the pitches he’d missed. Still feeling that there was something there, I said, “And then I pitched ‘Brokeback to the Future,’ and no one liked it…” Jonathan’s face lit up in a way that is seared into both* of our brains. A few months earlier, he’d seen his first mashup trailer — that legendary re‑edit of The Shining as a heartwarming family comedy — and he’d been obsessed with it ever since. Suddenly the idea clicked for him. He pitched my own pun back to me: “What if we re‑cut Back to the Future into a trailer where Marty and Doc have this secret, forbidden relationship…” And I said, “Through time…”

We spent the weekend rewatching the trilogy on DVD and taking pages of notes, trying to find the small moments of intimacy and awkwardness that it would take to sell this imagined storyline. After editing the footage and adding the music, it was soon decided to play the mash-up as part of our comedy troupe’s upcoming live show.

It played to a packed audience in one of our college’s theater spaces, and it was a big hit. As the title faded, our friend @gillyheartsyou immediately suggested we put it on YouTube. It being the beginning of 2006, we replied, “what’s YouTube?” She had her account ready to go. “Go for it,” we said. “Put it up.”

20 years and millions of views later, Jonathan and I continue to collaborate (please read our script) and we think BBTTF still holds up as a testament to being true to yourself and love conquering all. We hope folks enjoy revisiting it as much as we have.

*Jonathan has no recollection of this.

We had a 7th and 5th birthday in the last 10 days! Gio could not be more obsessed with Godzilla these days, and Evi loves life as long as it’s sparkly and pink. These two kids are so…big. So much life lived in the last 7 years, since baby Gio’s explosive poops and Evi’s arrival on our living room floor (pictured in her “spot”). And life is good. by @patrickdenicola

I went to Arizona to film a documentary about an incredible group of Native American women who work tirelessly to rescue animals on the San Carlos Apache Reservation. The day before my crew and I arrived there was a fire that destroyed over 20 homes and killed/injured hundreds of pets. It’s the worst fire in decades on the Rez. Please donate and share to help them recover. LINK IN BIO.

@adimaria1 I love you! I still think you’re insanely beautiful, I’m still so grateful for the man you’ve helped me become, and I still don’t mind your back seat driving on trips to Florida. Thank you for 10 years of a kickass marriage, 2 beautiful kids, and for being an inspiring mother. I think I owe you the most thanks for being my reader on hundreds and hundreds of auditions. You give me great notes, laugh at my stupid improv and almost never phone it in 😉
