Our daughters first piece o pottery! Our good friend @patrickjohnstonceramics has been insisting we come hug a pot for years and finally I felt the bat call to go🙃🥹 we talked n laughed n watched Patrick create a perfect pot for us while telling 247 other stories, seemingly hardly paying attention, while making a pot that would take me years to do… 40 years doing his craft & working his butt off in the most authentic version of himself possible, and today he has one of the most groovy n successful ceramic spots hidden in Venice - the folks who know KNOW! So special doing this and so grateful for Patrick inviting us in - can’t wait to spend more time here with our daughter - praying she will be artistic genius like Pat lololol taken in Venice by @patrickjohnstonceramics

A forever hug, freezing a little moment of love in time 🥰

Thank you bestie @patrickjohnstonceramics, whose studio @templeofmediclaytion is a staple of the Venice community and a very special place where very special things are made :) it's become a second home of sorts

Part one -
DRY THROWING
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This first one is the most important -*****
Plus this was the most impactful on my throwing-***
Joining a men’s group and becoming honest with myself. That was the way that I found a calmness that centered me.
You can only center your pottery, as centered as you are -
Once there was a calmness and a quietness in my mind, that enabled me to notice things about my throwing, that I never noticed before. This new awareness enabled me to progress in my throwing in previously unimaginable ways.
Dry throwing. Here’s the secret ***
IT’S ALL ABOUT YOUR SENSE OF TOUuCH

That sense of touch only comes from your awareness from within.

BOOM

That is how I throw with the adequate amount of water.

I left a super cushy life - surfing- tons of friends- full moon dinner parties- amazing community-

I left all of that behind, searching for an education. One day, I hopped in my car and drove across the United States and ended up at the Rhode Island school of design. Attending RISD was one of the best decisions of my life.#risd #ceramics #ceramiceducation #pottery #kilningit

today I’m the owner of @templeofmediclaytion . I was very fortunate to have great teachers and to have met people who believed in me, before I believed in myself. Casey O’Connor @kcobasic was one of those teachers
10,000 thankyous I appreciate you taken in Temple of Mediclaytion by @patrickjohnstonceramics
