To those of you I talk to regularly, those who quietly support from a distance, and those who just joined our little Martian gang… thank you. When I feel defeated or jaded by it all, you bring me back. Onwards and upwards 💚👽 by @patrickmartin

On days like today, when everything feels so far away, these kinds of messages really bring me back to earth. I’ve been conditioned to think that success means “1 million monthly listeners” on Spotify, a viral video on TikTok, a cool media outlet doing a press piece on me, the list goes on.

But at the core of every piece of art I make, all I’m really trying to do is make someone, anyone, feel something. I want to do for others what my favorite artists did for me. I want to make people dance, cry, dance while crying, hold each other, feel deeply nostalgic, feel deeply romantic, YEARN.

I believe my work has the ability to give that to so many people… and someday it might do it for millions… but today… it’s for a small group of people who make me feel understood, make me feel connected, make me feel optimistic. So for that I want to say thank you, from the deepest depths of my heart. You know who you are.

Love,

I heard someone say today that “suppressed creativity turns into depression” and Jesus Christ did I feel seen. I have so many ideas and feelings that need expressing. I’m pent up. #indie #fontainesdc by @patrickmartin
