17/10-2026 - counter-demonstration.

First time attending and covering an event like this. An event that ended when the police dissolved the counter-demonstration into the busiest shopping street in Denmark.

In this series of photos I’m highlighting how easily identified people were let through, by the police, to the opposite side. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, in hope that the viewer will try and interpret reality on their own.

This happened throughout and resulted in tension, which was then escalated by the police as they forcefully put themselves in the middle.

The video at the end is unrelated to the photos, but exemplifies how these things unfolded.

By the end of the day, I had also received two hits with the clubs, despite being fully unmasked, calm, cooperative and with a camera in my hand. taken in Copenhagen by @patricks.perspektiv

Anastasiia, she/her, Ukrainian, @_holysss_

“It wasn’t my plan to move to Denmark.”
I was a young girl when my life completely changed. The war in Ukraine started suddenly, and at first, everything felt temporary. I had to leave my friends, family, and everything that was important to me. Denmark welcomed me with sunshine and kind people. The first time was difficult, and I felt very lonely, but I couldn’t stay at home and started to explore a new life. Year after year, I grew, learned more, and tried a lot of new things that I had been afraid of. Now, Denmark has become my second home, where I have met so many nice people who feel like family to me.

One of my first memories working at the club, was seeing this mysterious girl lounging between the stages. She was wearing detached black sleeves, dancing until sunrise and always with a shy smile on her face. Since then we’ve united about our love for photography and we’ve danced together in abandoned bunkers, basements and other alternative places.
