#coverreveal! What an amazing morning! Behold the cover for my next novel #heartofthewild. @people did an exclusive reveal of this cover this morning. The book will be in stores April 20, 2027 from @atriabooks, but you can pre-order it now!

I am obsessed with this cover, with the hawk that plays a pivotal role in the novel, and the sky that flows down like a waterfall to carry us into the story. The title is a callback to Jack London’s #thecallofthewild, a book that follows my main character throughout the novel. I can’t wait for you to join me in the wilds of North Carolina’s Nantahala National Forest as we meet Emma, her mother, Jenny, and Becky, as well as the town of Silverveil, and all the secrets it holds.

What a morning. WHAT A MORNING! I am buzzing — being on National TV is a jolt of adrenaline – I could have skipped the coffee (but didn’t). I have a dream team at Atria and today we visited Good Morning American @goodmorningamerica to talk about The Story She Left Behind and I suggested a few beach reads (below).
George Stephanopoulos @gstephanopoulos is as charming and interesting as he seems. @k8hodgson Kate Hodgson is one of the best readers in the business and I could talk about books with her for days on end. GMA is full of whip-smart, friendly and fun hosts and crew. I’m supposed to love it, I know. Summer, I mean. I spent my high school years in South Florida, so I’m meant to love the heat. Summer is fun! School is out! The beach. The lake. Whatever it means to you. But I don’t love it. It’s hot. I often feel like I am supposed to be having more fun than I am. And I feel adrift.

I don’t hate it. There is so much good around a more relaxed schedule. But, and don’t come after me with your reasons why I should, I just don’t love it. The first yellow leaf, the first morning of cool temperatures and I exhale.

This is what I am meant for: some moody English weather with the mist over the river. A garret with books piled everywhere and a quilt. I love the woodsmoke and cold mornings and sweaters and fallen leaves. I love a fire in the fireplace and soup on the stove. A pile of books by the reading chair as it turns dark early. A long walk without thinking I will die of heat stroke. I love a season that makes the interior life feel important and worth taking the time to think about.

So goodbye summer, but here are some things, so I don’t hurt your feelings too badly as you walk out the seasonal door, that I loved about you this year. -- (Full list in my substack!!) Movies, TV, Reads, Listens. by @pattichenry

Nebraska you are such a show off. For my first visit to your state, you gave me blue skies, a full theatre of book lovers @worldtheatre, a library both beautiful and buzzing, a sold out class of inquisitive writers, and a host that knows how to take care of a visitor. @kearneylib I LOVED being your "One author" and everything about your city and state. A sky that extends horizon to horizon and corn fields as far as the eye can see. If anyone says, "No one is reading" I will send them to you! by @pattichenry
