My new foster with MEOW Foundation. Friends, meet “kindling”. 4ish years old and a little dreamboat. As there is no information on her, we are all learning so we can place her in the best home. We are working on a few things, like learning play toys are fun and sleeping on the bed is ok. She isn’t a cuddly cat, but sits by me on the couch or under the coffee table. She goes into my half bath and closes the door behind herself and has a snooze (I have warm heated floors) and then opens it up when she is ready to come out! I actually hope she continues this activity because it is hilarious….. so many homeless pets…. I hope they ALL have loving homes some day. #spayandneuter #petsofinstagram by @pattyminall

My new foster cat, Phlegmily (“Mily”) from Meow Founation. She is just settling in and learning about my condo and discovering cat toys and spaces/trees. So far, she loves looking out the window and sitting on my desk. Almost 6 years old. Tiny and sweet. Chatty, and rips the cardboard scratching post thingy with glee. Waiting for her personality to come out. More to come! by @pattyminall

So happy (and sad) that my foster cat, Rum Punch is going to his new, fur-ever home tomorrow! Being a cat/dog foster “parent” is so rewarding. Rummy was yawning in one photo but it snapped a smile at the end of it! #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram by @pattyminall

After Lily passed, I decided to foster a cat to help out the MEOW Foundation. (Age and lifestyle a factor I decided not to adopt another pet but still wanted “cat energy” in my life.). This is my first foster - his name is Rum Punch and I call him Rummy. He is a beautiful cat, and full of energy and super smart. He is settling in nicely and I keep telling him we are going to find him a fur-ever home one day. Rummy loves to play with toys and fish pole cat toys, but does not like to be picked up and carried around for long. I’m also working with him with hand movements as he was a bit of a nipper when I first brought him home. Now he is fine as I have learned to not over-stimulate him and that was the key. Rummy doesn’t always sleep on the bed as he has this cat tree bed he loves. He kneads dough like a baker a lot and if u sit to watch tv, he will join you on your lap. He likes to chat and loves to be talked to. I can’t really say much more because it is up to the adoption peeps at Meow to deal with, but he would do good in a home where playing (I’m trying to teach him tricks as he is so smart) with cat toys, not your hands, is daily for a few minutes to help him with his creativity. But also a calm home with a big window for “cat tv”. He is such a dreamboat. I hope someone adopts him soon before I become a foster failure. Check him out in the adoptions page at MEOW Foundation. I have sunflowers at my garden. Today it is a cooler day with really light rain. I noticed a bee on each of my (3 blooming) flowers and they seem to be sleeping. I’m going to look into this as I have never seen this (after decades of gardening). I let them sleep. I can’t get over sometimes how awesome and delicious and fun my meals can be. And I enjoy a sense of gratitude for my food. My latest expense was finally buying an Instant Pot and I am now making all my organic beans, lentils etc from scratch using the dried versions. I am now not buying cans (nothing in the garbage) and eating so wholesome. Today I got out my friend’s (Rachel Joy Olsen) new book The Magic of Living Nutrition and whipped up black bean burgers from it. (I wish more restaurants would make these!) Sooooo good! I have made these before and they freeze well for burgers or toppings on salads or in wraps. #blackbeans #veganfood #healthyliving by @pattyminall

May 17, 2024. I woke up to this!?!?! I guess I’m not planting seeds in my raised garden bed today. #mothernature all my herbs (that were going to be planted in my pots outside on my porch) were rescued wearing my pyjamas. Going to re-plan my day. #eatlocal #gardenerslife by @pattyminall
