I’m so excited to share that I’ve joined the Recording Academy’s 2026 New Member Class.

It’s an honor to be part of a community of music creators and professionals who are helping support, uplift, and advocate for the people who make and shape music.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to use my voice, contribute to the Grammy Awards process, and be part of conversations that help move our industry forward.

Music is shaped by so many voices, genres, backgrounds, and perspectives, and I’m proud to add mine to the mix.

This was fun! 😂
So, Question for my fellow musicians-
Your spouse or significant other says they support your music but they never come to your performances…
How would you handle that? Do they get to stay or do they have to go?? by @patwilliamsondrums

I found a handwritten music manuscript that my dad started writing prior to him passing. It was the melody to this song.

‘Living The Dream’
Written and produced by Pat Williams and Melvin Johnson
Drums recorded and edited by Pat Williams
All keys 🎹-Melvin Johnson
Bass 🎸 Gabriel Severn
Horns 🎺 -Phillip Lassiter
Percussion 🪘🪇 - Darius Fentress
Mixed and mastered- Ernie Wells
The title came from a quote that a guy I used to work with said EVERYTIME you ask him how he was doing. lol “Hey Joe! Good morning! How is it going?” Joe-“Oh, just LIVING THE DREAM.”
My next question (to myself) was …are you REALLY? 🤷🏾‍♂️ 🤔 🤭
I wanted it to have a #WeatherReport vibe with the synth and fretless bass solos, with a modern, fusion feel.

Being ready for the opportunity means preparing for more than what you already know.

Pat Williams talks about the importance of versatility as a musician and why he never wanted to box himself into one sound. From jazz and gospel to R&B and funk, learning different styles meant being prepared when the call came instead of having to turn an opportunity down.

And with more than four decades in music, you already know this isn’t where Pat’s story ends. Stay close, we’ve got more from his CCGo conversation coming.
