“The Wizard Will See You Now!” by @paul_e_watson

I’m super excited to announce I’ve been offered the lead vocals for Speed of Sound - McCartney/Wings Tribute Band

I got to audition with these musicians last week and it was glorious being amongst incredible musos who love Macca (my name sake!) as much as I do!!!!

This one is about the music and the memories and it’s kind of for my Mum and Dad who bought me Wings greatest hits as my first ever vinyl purchase one Xmas. Mum was wanting the No More Lonely Nights single for Xmas and Dad came across the Greatest Hits album and said to me “you should buy this for your Mum, you’ll love it too!” …and I did and the rest is history!

Answers to a very important question….

No I’m not playing left hand bass! These wonderful musos have got the whole thing so brilliantly covered, I’m just gonna concentrate on vox… and maybe see if I can convince them to let me slip an acoustic or electric guitar in or some percussion from time to time!!!!!

From our discussions this will not be a dress-up tribute but more a celebration and appreciation of the music and what it means to us and our audiences and Macca fans everywhere… which is how we do the Crowdies tribute too.

I’m excited to be in a full band again. We made an artistic decision to do the Crowdies as an MTV unplugged concept. Which they often did do. But this is a full Venus and Mars ROCK SHOW!!!

I can’t wait!!!!

The task ahead is huge, but I’m keen!!!!

Wedding Gigs!!! by @paul_e_watson

Had the absolute pleasure to sit in the audience last night for the Christian College Annual Music Evening at Costa Hall. Beautifully administrated by @lyndallwatson!!! She kills that role and is a dynamite part of the big team involved!!! My fav section of the night was this choir piece. Conducted by our dear friend Kate Notini. Campbell is in this choir with maybe 16 to 20 other senior students and they do an incredible job and sound beautiful. Beautiful sound by @will.mcguinness3 too. by @paul_e_watson

Was surfing on The Go Show!! socials today and came across this picture of Uncle Pete whilst looking at some old M.P.D Limited photos. Some I’d never seen before. To my amazement this photo came up of Pete playing his Yamaha Red Sticker FG180. This guitar was manufactured in Japan between 66 and 72. I believe Pete purchased sometime during his Vietnam tour when an MPD MkII went to entertain the troops in 68-69. Rick Springfield joined Pete on that tour and has often discussed publicly how intense and scary that tour was. Pete unfortunately fell ill after the tour and died a few years later. The guitar found its way into my dad’s possession and for many years now it’s been part of my cherished collection. I’ve photographed it as it is today, next to the photograph of Pete from nearly 60 years ago! This guitar has been on a journey and I’m privileged to have it in my collection. @rickspringfield by @paul_e_watson

Get ready to rock as Jessica Aiezza and Kane Worthy, the dynamic duo behind Empire, take the Supernova stage with Paul Watson. Jessica’s powerhouse vocals have backed Robbie Williams and lit up the Melbourne Cup Carnival, while Kane’s soulful voice has opened for Thirsty Merc. Geelong’s own Paul, Artistic Director of What’s On? Production Company, has just played the Wizard on Wicked’s international tour, and in February 2027 he directs Jessica as Oz and Kane as Brit in Queen’s We Will Rock You at Costa Hall. On Sunday October 18, with Joey Donald on guitar, they’ll give us a thrilling first taste that will have everyone stomping and clapping. What are you waiting for?
