Getting older. Falling in love. Making mistakes. Finding your people.

Sometimes, the family you choose is the one that gets you through it all. Meet YOU ARE HERE, a comedy/dramedy about friendship, love, life, and the beautiful mess in between.

Every Tuesday I am celebrating actors I love!

Today I am spotlighting Paul Witten, an actor with wicked comedic timing, a debonair swagger and Final Draft always up on his computer. When he’s not being invited to set, he creates his own work and picks his own collaborators. Paul’s been fortunate enough to work consistently as an actor over the last 30 years, and also maintains a great side hustle as a hairstylist. Pragmatic and a dreamer is a great combination.

I asked Paul a few questions and here is what he had to say:

WHAT IS A MEMORABLE AUDITION STORY YOU HAVE?
One of my very first auditions was for the tv show PARTY OF FIVE. I did the pre-read and was called back to producers. I was pretty new and probably a bit nervous. As I walked into the producer session, Casting Director Patrick Rush turned to me, smiled and whispered “get in here and book this”. It was a very simple gesture. But so kind and encouraging. I never forgot it. And I booked it.

WHAT ROLE OR PROJECT THAT YOU’VE DONE ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Oh man that’s hard. I’m grateful and proud of all of them, but I’d probably have to say creating my series, DROPPING THE SOAP. I had the idea one day while I was napping, and a few years later was starring in a show on Amazon that Jane Lynch won an Emmy for. As actors we have so little control, so betting on ourselves and creating our own work, regardless of the outcome, is incredibly rewarding. Also, working with DeNiro on THE COMEBACK TRAIL. That was pretty epic.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Be easier on yourself. Always trust your instincts. And start saving your money muuuuch earlier.

WHAT GOAL DO YOU STILL WANT TO ACHIEVE?
I’d love to be a series regular. That’d be cool. Like maybe #5 or #6 on the call sheet, I’m not greedy. I’d also love to have abs. But I don’t want to give up carbs so let’s go with series regular.

Thank you Paul for sharing with us! Please check out his bio below.

This scene is a glimpse of our supporting actor Paul Witten in Imbalance. 🎬✨

He brings joy, character, and a spark that shifts the energy of every scene he enters. His performance moves effortlessly between warmth and sharpness, giving the film another layer of dimension.

We cannot wait for you to see his full performance. We are so proud of his work and so grateful for the presence he brings both on screen and behind the scenes. 🌟💛

Bravo, Paul. 👏
