HAPPY HALLOWEEN! It has been a busy but fun week. There has been everything from pumpkin decorating contests to halloween parades, to pumpkin carving, baking and trick or treating. 🍬 We also got booed by someone with the most delicious cookies. Still trying to figure out who it was because I need those recipes! 🍪~

🎃 Our Favorite Pumpkin Patches in the Bay Area

Fall is one of our favorite times of the year in California, and visiting a pumpkin patch has been a family tradition for years! These are our favorites:

🎃 Joan’s Farm
📍 Livermore

Pumpkins, farm animals, a maze, Old West Town, play areas, and more. And you can easily combine your visit with a stop at one of the nearby wineries. 🍷

🎃 Bob’s Vegetable Stand & Pumpkin Farm
📍 Half Moon Bay

One of our longtime favorites. It has a real farm feel, lots of pumpkins, a hay pyramid, farm animals, and plenty of great photo spots.

🎃 Dig Deep Farms
📍 Fremont

A smaller local option that is perfect for a quick fall outing. Pumpkin carving, crafts, games, food, and drinks for the kids and the whole family.

🎃 Rodoni Farms
📍 Santa Cruz

A huge pumpkin patch with lots of space, a giant corn maze, and plenty for kids to explore. We especially loved getting lost in the corn maze!

🎃 G&M Farms
📍 Livermore

Come for the huge corn maze and stay for the corn pool! There are also tractor rides, a petting zoo, hay maze, and lots of other activities.

🎃 Spina Farms
📍 Morgan Hill

Probably the most fun one for kids but very crowded! 🦖 The dinosaur theme, corn maze, train rides, hayride, and Pumpkin Blasters make this one a favorite.

🍂 Which one would you choose?

Would you guess these are tapas? 😍

I had the chance to try some of the most unusual tapas at Los Zagales in Valladolid, Spain.

🚬 Edible cigars filled with sardine tartare
🍷 Red wine lollipop filled with partridge
🐭 Pork ribs, apple and foie gras served on a mousetrap
🔥 Grilled seafood with aromatic smoke
🥖 A mini baguette you eat with the ”bag”
🍫 Tigretosdón; a savory take on popular Spanish snack
🏛️ ”Obama in the White House”
👂 And a Key lime pie that looked like an ear!

👉🏻 Head to my blog for a full story! ~

Maisteltiin taannoisella Espanjan matkalla vähän erikoisempia tapaksia. Kyseessä oli palkittu Los Zagales ravintola Valladolidissa, ja siitä lisää blogissa.

🍭Candy Day - Karkkipäivä! 🍭

We stumbled into this colorful and fun exhibition at K.H. Renlund Museum in Kokkola this summer. In Finland many kids have a so called ”candy day” meaning that one day a week they get to eat candy. Inspiration to these bright glass candies and ice creams came from the artist’s own candy day memories. 🍬~

Vielä ehtii käydä katsomassa upeita Paula Pääkkösen Karkkipäivä -lasitöitä Kokkolassa!

📆 On display until September 6, 2026

One of the most surprising places we discovered in Burgos, Spain was Artlanza.

This park is the life’s work of local artist Félix Yáñes. Built by hand over decades, it recreates a traditional Castilian village complete with charming streets and buildings, just like on Covarrubias where we also visited.

Golden hour in Lerma, Burgos.✨

Wandering around the charming medieval streets, admiring centuries-old architecture and watching the sunrise over the rooftops… best menories of Lerma.

~Tunnelmallinen Lerma; ihania pieniä kujia, historiallisia rakennuksia ja upea auringonnousu.

Covarrubias quickly became one of my favorite stops in Spain, Burgos region. This nicely preserved medieval village is the perfect place to slow down and wander without a plan. It was very quiet and every narrow street seemed to lead to a charming square or a historic building.

If you’re exploring Castile and León or road tripping in northern Spain, don’t skip Covarrubias.

Looking for unique things to do in Spain? 🇪🇸

Step inside Monasterio de Lerma, a beautifully preserved 17th-century monastery in the medieval village of Lerma, just two hours from Madrid.

Join a guided tour to learn about the Carmelite nuns who lived there over 400 years, explore the historic monastery and its gardens, or book the ”The Lord Walks Among the Pots and Pans” cooking experience. We cooked tradtional Spanish stew in clay pots over an open fire, sampled some local wine, and enjoyed a great meal.

If you are in Castile and León, it’s worth adding to your itinerary.

Pismo Beach in California was just chosen as America’s best coastal, small town. Here is everything we did when we were there:
🚏Visited Pismo Beach sign at the pier
🐚 Walked on the beach and counted clams
🐳 Played at the ocean themed playground
👀 Did window shopping
🥧 Saw how cinnamon rolls are made
🦋 Visited Butterfly Grove
🌅 Watched the sunset

Did we miss something? ~

Kalifornian Pismo Beach valittiin juuri Amerikan parhaaksi pieneksi rantakaupungiksi. Tässä meidän tunnelmia viime käynniltä. by @paulagaston

Few more photos from our trip to Death Valley National Park. Definitely something interesting to everyone; spring flowers, salt flats, hiking trails, sand dunes, endemic animals and even fighter jets. ✅ ~

Vielä muutama kuva road tripiltä Kuolemanlaaksoon. Tuli nähtyä kevätkukkia, suolatasankoja, hiekkadyynejä, patikkapolkuja, harvinaisia eläimiä, hävittäjälentokoneita. ja vaikka mitä. 🌞

This here is the World’s Largest Raisin Box which was actually once full of raisins. Now it stands at Sun-Maid plant in California where you can also visit the factory store. A quick and fun place to stop! 🍇 ~
