I first met @sabatino_cersosimo a couple of years ago at a group exhibition we were both showing in - one of his figurative paintings was hanging directly near to a sculptural work I had made. I was instantly drawn to his work above the others’, and a lasting artistic friendship began that evening.

Yesterday, a new work of his, titled “La piuma Bianca” (the white feather) was unveiled in the exhibition “Limen. Figures from the margin” at Fondaziona Banco di Napoli in Naples, Italy.

In this work, he depicts how the white feather - long a symbol of fragility and purity - was weaponised in England during the First World War.

Thank you for having me be a part of this beautiful work of yours, @sabatino_cersosimo ! (And to everybody else: go check out his work!)

Untitled, 2024.
.
One of a series of pieces, created by carving human ears from mother of pearl before implanting them inside the shells of pearl oysters and sending them back out into the ocean. The oysters were left to react to this implant by releasing nacre and as a result pearls formed as if the shell itself had grown an ear made entirely of pearl matter.
