I really don’t have the words to describe what I’m feeling, and I hate writing this. My dad passed away yesterday morning. I don’t want it to be real, I wish this was all just an awful dream that would go away. You were my go-to guy, I would call you nearly everyday to tell you about some big idea I was thinking, or some dumb thing I wanted to buy, because I knew you would always have the opposite opinion of me nearly every time but I didn’t care anyway, I loved it. As some of you may know, my dad was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer earlier this year and has been fighting it every single day. Despite the odds, my dad fought his ass off every day. It was incredibly hard being away from home during this time, and I wish I could’ve been by his side every single day to be that person in his corner pushing him and believing in him regardless of the circumstances. I love you dad, thank you for everything you’ve done for me and teaching me how to be a good person. by @paulclark

The puffins were out in full force in Iceland and admittedly it was so overwhelming trying to take a decent photo because of how many were flying around! I have a great respect for wildlife photographers, especially those who are able to capture such stunning flying/fish images of these little puffs!

Admittedly, coming to Iceland to chase a solar eclipse was probably not the best idea considering Iceland is one of the cloudiest places in the world.

The forecast leading up to today’s event was heavy clouds, even though the day before was perfect blue skies. Given the circumstances, I decided to still make the 3 hour drive to get to a location and put myself in a position to capture it.

The last solar eclipse I shot in Austin also had heavy overcast skies but someone encouraged me to still go anyway because the eclipse can make the clouds to strange things and clear up… and sure enough luck was on my side again! I wasn’t able to capture totality well, but was at least able to walk away with some great partial shots and a great memory I’ll cherish forever.

Urban and street photography is where my passion of photography first began to significantly grow, being able to capture the calm amongst the chaos has always been one of my favorite challenges, especially in NYC and Chicago.

This is my entry for the @sonyalpha Travel & Street photo contest and has been my trusted systems since day 1. I’ve loved shooting on the R series, and my go-to lens has been the GM 24-70 due to the versatility of width and length I can get from it without having to change lenses.
