Dans la série "Goodbye Beirut", réalisée entre 2016 et 2021, Paul Hennebelle a photographié la capitale libanaise dans ses multiples représentations. Il s’agissait pour lui d’interroger l’identité de cette cité et d’en dévoiler les strates complexes qui dessinent un espace urbain en mutation. Il a créé ici un dialogue entre la transformation physique de la ville et l’évolution intérieure de la jeunesse beyrouthine. La crise financière de 2019 puis l’explosion dévastatrice du port de Beyrouth ont cristallisé les défis auxquels sont confrontés aujourd’hui les jeunes Libanais. Ces images mettent en lumière la tension entre deux mondes qui s’entremêlent : l’ancien et le nouveau, la nature et le béton, le tangible et l’intangible. Paul Hennebelle s’intéresse à la ville dans sa dimension métaphorique, comme un organisme vivant à travers ses variations les plus subtiles. Les mouvements des corps sont fragiles et s’incarnent dans le béton, les identités se cherchent et se perdent, les frontières entre intérieur et extérieur s’estompent. Le bâti cohabite avec les corps. La ville se reconstruit inlassablement comme sa jeunesse, entre espoir et fragilité, mais se heurtant souvent à la désillusion.

Ce soir j’expose cette image dans l’expo collective Waall #5, organisé par @a.t.f.u @togaether_ à la galerie @auroi_paris, pendant le parcours Nuit Blanche. Cette œuvre est disponible au troc (si quelqu’un a un atelier en région parisienne, on peut discuter 🤝), ainsi que les autres œuvres de l’expo. Rdv ce soir, au 73 rue de la Fontaine au Roi.
