Nights 3 & 4 - Wadi Musa (Petra), Jordan

There’s nothing that quite prepares you for the moment you see The Treasury. Meandering through the narrowing Siq, wondering what vibrancy echoed from those canyon walls during the time of the Nabatean people, and there it is - your first glimpse of the iconic Treasury. A 2,000 year old masterpiece, meticulously carved out of the towering mountain face.

And then it dawns on you - you’re completely alone. This can’t be real. You imagine the hustle and bustle that once was. Before the war, Petra saw 6,000 visitors every single day. And there I was, alone.

Next, a sweltering hike to 3,200 feet to see The Monastery. An even more impressive facade - one that is so high that you peer over Jordan and Israel.

On the way back, you stop and talk with the Bedouin shopkeepers, many of whom still live in the caves of their ancestors. They greet you with tea and invite you to sit, sharing stories of a life much simpler than most can imagine. “You’re my first customer today” one told me. Welcoming people who are hurting as tourism in the region has plummeted.

After a long 7 hours hiking - it’s dinner and nap at the hotel. I hear Arabic music playing in the town square and venture out to see what’s going on. A celebration for the locals. I find a seat, noticing that I’m the only non-local in the crowd. There’s a friendly curiosity about me being there. Within moments, a group of young guys comes over. “Where are you from brother?”, I tell them. An excitement over meeting an American, soon their friends are called over to meet me. They make me stand up and dance with them, they take photos with me, they invite me to hang out with them after the celebration. Another reminder of just how friendly Jordanians are.

Beyond the incomparable beauty I witnessed in Petra, the people I met are what will stay with me the most, their stories etched in my heart.

An unbelievable 24 hours on the ground in Egypt.

Looking up in wonder at the scale of something that has captivated humans for 4,500 years is such a humbling experience. One that causes you to reflect, to question, and to grow. Thankful for a life that brought me to this point.

Next stop: Jordan 🇯🇴

Yallah!

In October of last year, I canceled a trip to Italy to visit family because I was too nervous to travel, especially on my own. I had never traveled and the thought of navigating a foreign country was overwhelming to me.

But here we are, a year later. Eight countries, four continents, one solo Middle East road trip during an active war - all teaching me that I can do things that scare me and dream bigger than I thought possible. It’s amazing how much growth can happen when you push outside of your comfort zone and trust in yourself.

I wonder what the next year will hold... ✈️

An era of self reflection.
Growth.
Change.
Evolution.

When the mirror,
once a reminder of what was,
Now only sees what will become.

From the bustling grid of Centro to the slower, tree-lined streets of La Condesa - Mexico City is one of many contrasts.

Such a beautiful and intriguing place for my 8th country of the year. by @paulindrome1

Life lessons from the queen, Dolly Parton.

“Find out who you are, and do it on purpose” was one of Dolly’s mottos - and reminds us all to live authentically and not change our light for others. Dolly was serving up serious life coach vibes for decades!

Oh Dolly, the world wasn’t ready for this.

Such a true generational icon - uniting everyone with her talent, authenticity, kindness, and light.

“Bittersweet memories
That is all I’m taking with me
So goodbye, please don’t cry…

And I will always love you”

They were just starting to feel like family…

As a reminder: voting is so aura, or whatever the kids say now. Civic engagement is a duty we all share, and it’s part of what makes our country so great. Exercise your vote and never take for granted the opportunity to be involved in the process.

These’s aren’t your average meds. And changing them so rapidly can come with some serious side effects.

There’s so much to unpack with the Lindsay Clancy trial.

My heart breaks for this entire family - and my hope is that we learn some key takeaways to improve care and treatment for women navigating postpartum depression.

What is standing out to you the most from the trial?
