Chi mi conosce sa quanto tenevo a Pinot.

Sunday Oyster-day 🦪

Oysters are one of my many Achilles’ heels: they almost killed me once, and I love them anyway. I lived, flew to Bar Convent Berlin the next morning, learned absolutely nothing.

We crossed the city for outrageously large Pacific Gigas,
Blackwater Estuary beasts. Slow-grown, briny, Roman-approved (they shipped them to Italy).

William Baker was shucking them, forty years of tide in his hands, Essex oysterman, sailor, keeper of blades.

Then cardio in Portobello to keep warm in a freezing morning, dodging tourist traps and tourists.

Salt on the lips, ideas in the pocket: something oyster-shaped is coming soon. taken in High Street Kensington Farmers Market by @paulinerrosa

They came for the vows and the rings, but stayed for the dirty martinis, the margaritas and trash dancing.

Loyal as a northern house, loud as a tavern full of bards.

Friends like this turn a wedding into a saga (and a kitchen full of onions half cut).

I promise you the strength and loyalty of Brienne of Tarth,
the adventure and blunt honesty of Arya Stark,
the protection (non-toxic, I swear) of Cersei Lannister,
the kindness and sense of justice of Daenerys Targaryen
(without burning anyone, I promise),
and the deep calm of someone who’s done running. taken in Cecina, Italy by @paulinerrosa
