POSTS STORIES REELS

There was a time I didn’t have a beard. 😂

Found this while going through old things, consolidating, clearing out and making room for whatever comes next.

And sometimes, something from your past re-emerges at exactly the right moment…not to make you look backward, but to remind you how you got here.

Where you are is connected to where you were.
To what you tried. What you risked. What you worked for. What you survived. And all the ways you kept showing up.

Fitness has been one of those constants for me.

I’ve always believed fitness should be accessible and that it should give you an ROI every single time. Physically, mentally and emotionally.

It has challenged me, grounded me, connected me to people and, on more occasions than I can count, saved me.

The platforms may change.
The chapters certainly will.
But as long as I have a platform, I’ll keep sharing fitness, health and wellness…and keep fighting for more people to have access to what movement can give us.

Funny what you find when you’re making room for what’s next.

Sometimes the things we uncover aren’t asking us to go backward. They’re reminding us what we’re carrying forward.

DIRECTION

“To find yourself, think for yourself.” - Socrates
.
It’s important that you simply stick to the idea of always moving forward. So many things feel heavy enough to hold you down and keep you from progressing at the speed that you would be if you didn’t have that drag. So focus on the direction that you know is right for you and relentlessly keep that in your efforts.
.
Sometimes taking those steps feels like it takes up all the energy you have and sometimes it feels like the easiest thing in the world. In both instances you are progressing and rather than adding up how much you’ve had to push through to get to the next step you learn to add up the positive steps you’ve taken to get there and keep going.
.
Perspective regarding your intentions and efforts result in habits in both body and mind that will keep you growing, connecting and leading by example. You know what you are about regardless of what others think or judge by. You are uniquely you and no one does it like you and sometimes that makes you the target. It’s chill. Just find yourself by thinking for yourself and not what others think of you.
.
.
Hold tight - I’m progressing after a challenging month and shit will be back: like the GYST and some new workouts.
.
ALL LOVE.

10 years ago, a lawsuit brought by @jeffzarrillo & @paulkatami overturned California’s ban on same sex marriage. In 2008, California voters passed Proposition 8, which defined marriage as between a man & a woman. In 2013, the US Supreme Court ruled that was unconstitutional. Back then, I reported from Washington and interviewed Paul & Jeff multiple times. It was great to reconnect with them on @foxla. Life is unpredictable. It challenges us, changes us, and sometimes takes us places we never imagined. But through all of it, the one thing we’ve always done is turn toward each other instead of away.

And I think that’s one of the most beautiful things about love. Not that everything is perfect, but that we keep choosing each other through all of it.

Happy birthday to my human, my love, my constant, and my favorite person to share this wild, wonderful life with.

Here’s to everything we’ve lived, everything we’ve learned, and everything still ahead of us.

We were right .. love does win. by @paulkatami

Dig a ditch, or build a ladder?

Same effort either way. Direction makes all the difference.

I’ve leaned on this one for years. Even when you find yourself holding both the shovel and the rung for a minute, the choice is always clear.

Remind yourself of the climb today. It makes all the difference. 🪜

EVERY STAGE: THE PEOPLE

This past year gave me something I rarely make time for: the chance to look back and see the story.

I started as an instructor. That quickly turned into representing brands as an ambassador, traveling the world and teaching in rooms and on stages . Standing in front of thousands of people who all came to move together showed me what I wanted to spend my life doing: bringing fitness to as many people as possible, wherever they are.

That goal is what made me an entrepreneur. I created fitness programs. I developed the Katami Bar, which took me all the way to an infomercial. I built my own production company so I could distribute workouts as far and as wide as possible, for major brands and for my own work.

Along the way I had to learn how to tell my own story. That’s what led me to some of the work I love most: helping brands and talent find their voice and build their own narratives. There’s nothing like watching someone realize their story is worth telling.

Looking back, it all comes from the same place: creativity, passion, and a love for inspiring people. On stage, on camera, or behind it, the mission hasn’t changed.

Fitness for everyone, everywhere. Grateful for every stage along the way. Grateful for all the amazing people that have enriched my life and gave me reasons to celebrate theirs.

Stop resisting.

Resistance holds a line. Force changes it.

We call ourselves “the resistance” when we fight for something … but resistance is defensive by nature. It’s built to hold, not to move anything. Force is what actually changes the line.

I talk a lot about this topic in a section of my keynote. It redefines what it means to be a force against resistance.

Today, before class, before whatever you’re up against …stop standing against it. Become the thing that moves it.

Be the force. 💪 by @paulkatami

Congratulations to Chuck Lorre being given the Founders Award at @projectangelfood’s annual Angel Awards Gala. The event was capped off with a private performance by @barenakedladiesmusic by @paulkatami

I’ve spent the last week feeling incredibly grateful…not for things, but for experiences and, even more, for connection.

For everyone who knew that about me and made the call. Sent the text. Invited me to lunch, dinner or drinks. Made a plan. Followed up. Sat across a table and caught up. Laughed. Reminisced. Talked about what’s happening now and what comes next and called again to check up.

As I get older, I’m realizing more and more that life isn’t really about the number.

It’s about the number of times we choose to connect.

The number of times we reach out. The conversations we actually have. The time we make for one another. The relationships we don’t just collect, but continue to invest in and build upon.

Experiences over things.
Presence over presents.
Connection over counting.

So thank you to everyone who made this birthday feel less like a day on the calendar and more like a reminder of just how rich life can be when we keep showing up for one another.

Here’s to another year of doing more of exactly that. All love. 🤍 by @paulkatami

NAME IT
TO TAME IT

A feeling’s only supposed to last 90 seconds. After that, you’re replaying it, not feeling it. Getting specific about naming it is what breaks the loop.

I’ve been applying this in my own life since becoming a Behavior Change Specialist. Try it today: what’s the real name for what you’re feeling? You got 90 seconds… by @paulkatami
