Weekends are for the important things in life. As chair of a company in London, and my own consultancy, weekends are never fully free as clients across multiple time zones means 24/7.

It was great this Friday to take a break in the schedule to attend the Gorillaz concert with one of my VIPs, our granddaughter! It was a joy seeing her so happy.

@gorillaz @lilsimzs 🙏👍👍👍

Tx to daughter @pilcua for making it happen!

Magic memories.

I was reminded today by my sister that this day two years ago my dad passed on. The memories came flooding back. And a lesson in trusting your gut and letting life flow.

As a young soldier returning home right after the end of WWII, he lined up on Navy Pier in Chicago to enroll in the University of Chicago. The lines were long. A friend of his grabbed him in line, and said” Hey, they just opened up a new University downtown called Roosevelt University.

He walked over to the campus, and he was told that classes had already started two weeks ago, and he would have to catch up. He said “give me whatever you have”. One of the grab bags of classes was Constitutional Law.

It lit a spark in him, and after undergrad, went to DePaul University College of Law.

He became a distinguished force in legal aid, became an outstanding professor, and went on to run one of the oldest clinical student programs in the country at University of Denver.

Refusing to give up “shlepping to court” at 6 am so he could be with his law students and clients who couldn’t afford legal care, he turned down multiple pleas to publish.

He was one of the masterminds behind the daycare center across from the Federal Court in Denver, as he could not sit by while mothers and fathers had to bring their kids to court when there was no other alternative.

He retired in his 80’s.

A role model for anyone. He followed his gut, was authentic to his values, and had a clear mindset. A sign on his office read “ Illegitimi non carborundum...don’t let the bastards get you down.

Miss you.
