Wonderful, reflective start to today’s @ymcans Trustees’ Strategic Development Away Day @officialpvfc as we’re reminded that the young people of North Staffordshire are at the very heart of what we do.

George Williams, founder of @ymcaenglandandwales over 180 years ago remarked: ‘You are not alone and you can be more.’

And as the Youth Consultation reported: ‘Young people are bright, capable, and full of potential. They can make endless contributions - if we allow them to shape their futures. They are key to a thriving city.’ by @paulwilliams207

Inspired by the people, places and stories of Staffordshire, Staffy was enjoying the autumnal sun this weekend around the Trentham Gardens lakeside trail.

Lucideon’s announcement that it has turned Moon dust into ‘solid pellets’ which could pave the way to produce bricks on the surface of the Moon will help to “lay the foundations for humanity’s next giant leap.”

In recognising that Stoke-on-Trent “is all about ceramics and its great history but we also need to look at the future of ceramics”, I recall Lucideon’s Tony Kinsella positing at a dinner event back in 2018: It is no exaggeration to say that further research in fine ceramics will determine the future of technology-based civilisation. by @paulwilliams207

Stoke-on-Trent's connection with Lidice is one of the most remarkable stories in our city's history.

After the Czech village was destroyed by the Nazis in 1942, local people – particularly miners – led by GP and councillor Dr Barnett Stross helped defy Hitler and rebuild Lidice.

More than 3,000 people packed out the Victoria Hall in Hanley for the launch of the "Lidice Shall Live" campaign, a direct response to Hitler's declaration that "Lidice shall die".

Today, as the Czechia marks Czech Independence Day, we're marking the extraordinary bond between our communities.

As Czech President-in-exile Dr Edvard Beneš told the Victoria Hall meeting: "This meeting has made it clear that Lidice has not died: it lives on in the hearts of the people of Stoke-on-Trent at least. From now on, Stoke-on-Trent will live forever in the heart of every Czech citizen." by @paulwilliams207

As the latest chapter for the Quarter at Potbank, The Warehouse’s focus on atmospherics as a powerful hospitality tool is tangibly evident around this welcoming multi-functional new venue.

Decorated in colours inspired by Spode’s signature blue design and the enduring Willow pattern, with pottery moulds rescued from the redundant factory and catalogued by Professor Neil Brownsword adorning the walls. The lighting, sound and visual aesthetics and environmental ambience have been holistically curated to enhance customers’ experience and enjoyment. by @paulwilliams207

Delighted to have been invited by Pritpal Singh Nagi MBE DL, the ceremonial High Sheriff of Staffordshire - the oldest continuous secular office under the Crown, to today’s Church Legal Service and multi-faith blessing @staffordchurches.uk followed by the opening of the Michaelmas Term of the Crown Court.

Always good to see the indelible quality mark of made in Stoke-on-Trent ceramics adorn the lunch table.

An enjoyable morning spent at the @staffordshirechambers #LetsDoBusiness event @uttoxeterraces

Always good to see so many businesses from all sectors flying the Staffordshire flag. Enjoyed catching up with many friends and also reminding the phenomenally multi-talented @jazminsawyers about her previous advice to @uniofstaffs graduates on why it’s important to #AimWide to capitalise on our ability to succeed in multiple unrelated activities. by @paulwilliams207

Last year was a year to remember.

A new report has confirmed our Centenary was a huge success - bringing communities together, creating a lasting legacy for the city and celebrating in style.

More than 15,000 people were part of breaking a world record at The Big Centenary Tea Party – with thousands more at community events from the Houses of Parliament to our twin city, Erlangen.

And who can forget the thousands that came out for the People’s Parade.

Those were just two of more than 70 major events – and 100s more community activities – held during our year-long birthday party. by @paulwilliams207
