Digital art is here to stay. But what role can galleries play in giving it a lasting place in the art market?

Continuing our conversations around art, technology and the evolving place of digital art within the market, we’re pleased to have Pau Waelder (@pauwl) joining us at this year’s Barcelona Symposium.

As Senior Curator at Niio.art (@niioart), Pau curates art programmes for more than a hundred venues worldwide. He is also an advisor to the DAM Digital Art Museum and, as a writer and researcher, has focused extensively on digital art and collecting, including his 2020 book ‘You Can Be a Wealthy/Cash-Strapped Art Collector in the Digital Age’.

👉🏼 At the #BarcelonaSymposium, Pau will present “Galleries Can Save Digital Art—and Vice Versa”, looking at how galleries can provide the context, curation and long-term representation digital art needs, while exploring what digital practices can bring to the gallery model.

Com a Senior Curator de Niio.art (@niioart), Pau comissaria programes d’art per a més d’un centenar d’espais arreu del món. Pau Waelder is Senior Curator at Niio.art, where he curates art programs for over a hundred venues worldwide. He holds a PhD in Information and Knowledge Society from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and has worked as a lecturer and art critic. His research explores the intersections of art, technology and society, as well as the relationship between digital art and the art market. He is the author of “You Can Be A Wealthy/Cash-Strapped Art Collector In The Digital Age” (Printer Fault Press, 2020).

Pau was the chief editor of the Online-Museum for several years. Since 2016 he is part of the Advisory Panel!
