Good value is hard to come by these days. So when we were invited by @paz_tacos to try their £15 lunch deal, we made a beeline for Thistle Street. ⭐️

Conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from both of our offices, it might have just become our new lunchtime spot.

The lunch menu includes one antojito, a set of tacos and a drink each, which for £15 we think is pretty great.

To start, we opted for the esquites. We’d only ever had elote before, so this was a welcome (slightly less messy but equally as good) alternative, complete with spicy árbol cheese and crunchy totopos for dipping.

The papas followed - a bowl of perfectly crispy fried potatoes on a bed of red cabbage, topped with a smoky salsa.

Then came the tacos. The picadillo, made with spiced pork shoulder and belly mince, confit garlic aioli, shaved fennel and pickled onion, was perfectly spiced. We could’ve eaten 10 more, not because the portion size wasn’t good (they were huge) but purely because they tasted so bloody good.

The pollo macha was just as tasty, with tender chicken thigh, corn, salsa macha, crema and coriander. Moreish, packed with flavour and, for us, a 10/10 taco.

We washed it all down with the Lima y Granada Highball and Jalapeño Buck, two zingy, refreshing mocktails that rounded off a very good lunch.

The staff are genuinely so lovely, the restaurant has such a nice buzz and we reckon Paz is one to get on your list ASAP.

🧾 We were very kindly invited but here’s how you could split the bill. £15 each before service charge gets you:

🌽 1 x antojito dish
🌮 1 x set of tacos!!
🍹 1 x agua fresca

Hi Today, the veil is thinnest. 🌼💀
Happy Día de los Muertos from all of us at Mictlan Trail.
Day of the Dead is a celebration of the people we’ve loved and lost: marigolds to guide them home, candles lit, glasses raised. In Aztec legend, souls make the journey through Mictlan, nine levels of the underworld, to find their peace.
In Edinburgh, you can make that journey too. Nine bars, nine levels, nine agave cocktails. Collect a stamp at every stop, unlock rewards along the way, and complete all nine to enter the draw for flights to Munich. ✈️
📍 Voodoo Rooms · Lady Libertine · Paz Taqueria · Powder Room · The False Widow · Mother Superior · Dragonfly · Hey Palu · Sköll & Hati
🌵 San Cosme · Rosaluna · Cascahuín · G4 · Terralta · Pa’Todos · 818
⏳ Four weeks left. The trail closes 30 November.

🌼💀 Mictlan Trail is open across Edinburgh, and this is how launch night went down. Nine levels. Nine bars. Nine cocktails. 14 Oct- 30 Nov

In Aztec legend, the dead journey through Mictlan, nine levels of the underworld, before they reach eternal rest. We’ve turned that descent into a cocktail pilgrimage. Each bar is a level, and each one serves a signature agave cocktail inspired by its trial.

II – Lady Libertine
III – Paz Taqueria
IV – Powder Room
V – The False Widow
VI – Mother Superior
VII – Dragonfly

🪪 How it works:

Who said the best tacos need to be meaty?

Meet our Taco de Endivia.

Roasted chicory, cashew cream, spiced soft cheese, candied cashews, and amaranth. Truly underrated. IYKYK by @paz_tacos
