This is one of the hardest messages I’ve ever had to write…

South Florida has been more than just home — it’s been the foundation of who I’ve become as a coach, mentor, teacher, and man. Every gym, every early morning workout, every late night training session, every tough loss and every unforgettable win — all of it shaped me.

To my coaching brothers and sisters, mentors, colleagues, and friends — thank you for pushing me, believing in me, and walking alongside me through this journey. It’s impossible to name everyone, but each of you has played a part in helping me evolve not just as a coach, but as a human being.

As I prepare to start a new chapter in San Antonio, Texas, I do so with a full heart — one that’s grateful, humble, and hopeful. I’ll continue my journey as a teacher, a coach, and a trainer, and I’m excited for the new challenges, new opportunities, and the new lives I’ll get to impact.

But South Florida… this will always be home.
And a part of me will always be here.

Thank you for everything.
With love,

Coach White 🏀❤️🏀

Love to see this!!!

Two of these guys are just finishing up STRONG freshmen season and one just finished 8th grade. I’m blessed to have received the opportunity to coach and train all three of them.

All three worked out together this past week and it was an absolutely high-level workout & high-intensity workout. @iam.ant2 ( @thielmbb )and @matt_andreopoulos5 ( @yeo_mbb )always come to workouts with the intention of leaving better than they came, and their experience, attitude, focus, and work ethic gave @jayjehuda valuable lesson in what it takes to play at any level. I thank both of them for dropping some knowledge on the young bull.

I have no doubt in my mind that this workout will help Jayden on so many levels as his career progresses.

All we know how to do at #PBSDHoops is #outworktheworkout

We are focused on being the SOLUTION and never the problem.

Day 5: Looking vs. Seeing

There’s a big difference between watching the game and understanding the game.

Most players look at the basketball.

Elite players see everything else.

They scan the floor before they catch.
They recognize where the help is coming from.
They anticipate the next pass.
They make decisions before the defense has time to react.

🧠 That’s Basketball IQ.

The next time you’re on the court, challenge yourself to scan these three things before every catch:

👤 Your defender
🛡️ The help defender
👥 Your open teammate

The more information you collect, the better decisions you’ll make.

Remember: Your eyes collect information. Your Basketball IQ turns it into an advantage.

👇 Challenge: During your next game or workout, comment “DONE” after you consciously scan those 3 things before every catch.

🏀 Day 4: Passing Windows

Great passers don’t just see open teammates…

They see passing windows.

Every pass has a purpose, and knowing **which pass to make—and when to make it—is what separates good players from elite decision-makers.

A bounce pass. A pocket pass. A skip pass. A lob. A hook pass.

Each one solves a different problem.

🧠 High-IQ players don’t force passes—they recognize the best window before it closes.

The next time you’re on the court, ask yourself:
✔️ Did I scan before I passed?
✔️ Was there a better passing window?
✔️ Did my pass create an advantage for my teammate?

Remember: The best pass isn’t the flashiest one. It’s the one that leads to the best shot.

👇 Which pass do you think is the most underused in today’s game: Bounce, Pocket, Lob, Skip, or Hook?

🏀🧠Day 3: See the Floor Before You Catch

The best players don’t wait until they catch the ball to figure out what to do…

They’ve already made the first read.

Before every catch, scan the floor:
🏀 Where are your teammates?
🛡️ Where is the help defender?
👤 Where is your defender?
⏱️ What’s the game situation?

When you build the habit of scanning before you receive the ball, you don’t just react—you anticipate.

That’s why high-IQ players always seem one step ahead. They make quicker decisions, create better scoring opportunities, and play with confidence because they’ve already processed the information.

The ball moves fast. Your eyes and mind should move faster.

🧠 Great players don’t just see the ball—they see the entire game.

👇 Challenge: The next time you play, make it a goal to scan the floor before every catch. How much easier does the game feel?

🏀 Day 2: Triple Threat Reading

Most players think the triple threat is just a stance.

Elite players know it’s a decision-making position.

Before your first dribble, you’ve already gathered the information you need:

👣 Read the defender’s feet.
✋ Read the defender’s hands.
👥 Read the help defender.

The best offensive players don’t attack blindly—they make the defense commit first, then exploit the mistake.

Remember: The first read creates the advantage. The second read creates the play.

🧠 Basketball IQ isn’t about reacting faster than everyone else—it’s about recognizing what the defense is giving you before your move even begins.

👇 If you caught the ball in triple threat right now, what would you read first: feet, hands, or the help defender?

🧠 DAY 1: Why Basketball IQ Beats Athleticism

Most players spend hours working on their handles, shooting, and athleticism…

But very few spend time training the most important skill on the court—their mind.

Basketball IQ isn’t about jumping higher or running faster. It’s about seeing the game before it happens.

Players with a high basketball IQ:
🏀 Make better decisions.
👀 See plays develop before everyone else.
⏱️ Always seem to have “more time.”
🎯 Create easy opportunities instead of forcing difficult ones.

That’s why you’ll often see players who aren’t the fastest, strongest, or most explosive dominate at every level of basketball.

Remember: Athleticism may get you noticed. Basketball IQ keeps you on the floor.

This is just Day 1 of our 30 Days to Higher Basketball IQ series. If you’re serious about becoming a smarter player, don’t miss tomorrow’s lesson.

👇 What’s one basketball habit you’ve developed that improved your understanding of the game?

Most players work on their game. The best players work on their understanding of the game.

Basketball IQ isn’t about fancy moves—it’s about seeing the play before it happens, making the right read under pressure, creating advantages for your teammates, and consistently making winning decisions.

At PBSD Hoops, we don’t just develop athletes. We develop thinkers, leaders, and competitors who know why they’re making every move on the floor.

🧠 See it.
📖 Read it.
💭 Think it.
🏀 Play it.

Outwork the Workout.

Most players get beat on ball screens for one reason…

❌ Not athleticism.
❌ Not speed.
❌ Not skill.

It’s IQ.

Defending an isolated high/flat ball screen in the middle of the floor is a thinking-man’s possession.

As the on-ball defender:
👀 Eyes NEVER leave the ball
🖐🏽 Use your hands to locate the screen
🎯 Stay attached — don’t turn your head and lose vision

As the big:
📣 Communicate early and loud
🏃🏽‍♂️ Sprint into the action
🧱 Show without overcommitting

One wrong angle.
One late call.
One split-second of lost vision…

And it’s downhill.

Young hoopers — this is how you earn trust.
Defense isn’t just effort. It’s positioning, timing, and communication.

High IQ defenders don’t just guard players.
They guard possessions.
