“In the Women in the Water Series, Adams uses water as a psychological space rather than a physical one. The figures drift between presence and introspection, creating images that are less about observation and more about what is felt but not fully seen.”

For those who are new here, I’m Pattie, the artist behind PC Adams Art.

I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. Through different jobs, responsibilities, and chapters of my life, making art has always been part of who I am.

At 76, I’m developing the public side of my art career more intentionally—exhibiting my work, sharing the stories behind it, and connecting with people who might find something meaningful in what I create.

Sometimes I wish I had given this part of my life more room sooner. But the years I’ve lived have also given me the memories, experiences, and perspective I bring to my paintings today.

I’m an experienced artist with more stories to paint and more people to reach.

If you’ve been here a while, thank you. If you’re just finding me, welcome. I’d love to know what first drew you to my work. by @pc.adamsart

Colored pencil still life “Haleiwa Still Life” by artist @pc.adamsart — a stunningly vibrant composition that celebrates color harmony and delicate realism. The luminous hibiscus petals glow with layered warm tones, while the transparent glass bottle and citrus fruit showcase exceptional control of reflections, texture, and light. The refined shading and crisp details beautifully capture the essence of botanical realism and classical still life tradition.

Also Senator Adam Schiff is working on this. I wrote to him yesterday. I am starting to feel instead of fleeing, which is obviously an option, we as artists should all do what artists have done for centuries and get political. Call your Congressperson and Senators. We are legion and are not powerless. PCAdamsArt by @pc.adamsart

Starting October 30th I am going dark for a while because of this. I do not give permission to Meta to AI crawl the artwork I have spent hundreds of hours working on. by @pc.adamsart

We often share the acceptances, the awards, and the sales. Today I’m sharing a rejection.

I submitted five pieces from my Women in the Water series for a juried exhibition. Work I feel represents some of the best art I’ve made.

They weren’t selected. And this one hurt.

When you put so much of yourself into your work, it’s hard to read a rejection without questioning your ability. Add disappointing sales, and the doubt gets louder.

I’m sharing this because it’s part of being an artist, too—the part that rarely makes it onto Instagram.

I still love these five pieces. I still remember what I was trying to express and the satisfaction I felt as they came together. I’m trying to give that feeling as much weight as this rejection.

Today, I’m disappointed. I still want to see where the work takes me. PCAdamsArt by @pc.adamsart
