Been so long since we've gone back to Japan. And now it's to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our son's 4th birthday.

Everyday it's something different. And you want to and try to hold on to every version of them for as long as you can because you know that tomorrow you'll encounter a whole new person with new words and new moves and new facial expressions. And all you can really do is enjoy the ride.

So stay in the frozen section until he opens every single freezer door. Watch him ponder over each fruit and vegetable. Listen to him call out each name of seafood, even if they're wrong.

Because growing up is beautiful. But letting go of each little version of him is the hardest part.

Gratitude isn't just a feeling. It's a daily practice that rewires what you notice. I wake up each day locked into what I have instead of what I'm missing.
