I'm speaking about the Schull Association of the Irish Loan Fund records on Monday 12 October at 9pm. For anyone researching ancestors in the West of Ireland in the 19th century, this record set is a fantastic source. Hope you can join me! https://sog.org.uk/welcome-to-all-about-that-place/ by @pcsgen

Elopements were common in the 18th and 19th century. I've just finished researching one family's elopement story to find out whether it was true. Read my latest blog to find out what I discovered!

A stroll up Ballydehob High Street is like a walk through my family tree: all of these names on shop signs feature among my ancestors. Do you have any of these names in your tree? taken in Ballydehob, West Cork by @pcsgen

351 years ago this summer, two lovers, George Broomham and Dorothy Newman, plotted a double murder that ended with them both hanging in chains on a windswept Berkshire hilltop. A tale so dark it’s still known today as The Black Legend.

Honesty invited me to The Hangman’s Lunch at The Crown & Garter Inn in Inkpen - a walk up to Combe Gibbet followed by lunch and a live Q&A with genealogist Patricia Sears, who has spent years digging through parish records to uncover newly discovered details about the real story behind the murders!

And there’s more coming.. Honesty are working on bringing the original Black Legend film to a screening near you. watch this space 👀

Genuinely one of the most unexpected and memorable days out I’ve had in Berkshire — if you love history, dark tales, beautiful countryside and a great pub lunch, this one is for you!
