Monterey Car Week News! This year is the 60th anniversary of the Lamborghini Miura which we celebrated with the largest ever gathering of Miura’s on the fairway at Pebble Beach. Schaltkulisse will be presenting a fabulous Verde Miura P400 as part of this display, available via Schaltkulisse Miami.

If you are in Monterey this week Kevin, Hugh and Paul are around all weekend, so don’t hesitate to send us a message!

Behind the scenes as we shot the Aston Martin Valour for @schaltkulisse with @stephan_bauer

This car has been on my mind a lot in recent days. As the internet goes into meltdown over the Luce, Aston Martin were strangely prescient when they launched this car.

The strap line in 2023 was ‘Be afraid. Not of what’s to come. But what we might lose’. Pretty on the nose 3 years later.

So why didn’t we notice this manual gearbox, 700+ hp, limited production car when it was launched!? I think Aston Martin missed a trick not presenting the Valour alongside its forebears. Not only is the styling consciously inspired by the V8 Vantage X-Pack, but the philosophy of the car also matches. See this as a proper Aston GT in the best tradition and it makes sense. So we decided to rectify that thanks to our friends @newportpagnellastons

I genuinely don’t think we’ll see many cars like this in the future, and in today’s modern sports car market, even at the price point, I think this car stands out. Villa d’Este 2026 🇮🇹

As the most prestigious European concours event of the year Villa d’Este is successfully adapting to embrace more contemporary design (I had to remind myself yesterday that the Bugatti Veyron is now 20 years old and deserves its place here).

Talk of the show was the Volkswagen W12 Nardò, a car which has attained somewhat mythical status as the pinnacle of the Piëch era VWAG.

A CLK GTR has that breathtaking quality which a concours car requires. Surreal to see it creeping across the gravel.

Bugatti EB110 is a personal favourite, I remember having a Bburago model of this car as a child and so it’s the styling I’ve always loved. Just a beautifully resolved piece of industrial design, not conventionally beautiful but balanced and understated.

Talking of design an un-modified Zonda C12 S is a great way to round out the group, with a reminder of an era where craftsmanship was combined with functionality, above and beyond ‘specification and options’. Perhaps only the Gordon Murray T.50 fully lives this ethos today. taken in Villa d'Este (Cernobbio) by @pdarvill

Our @schaltkulisse Caffeine Injection with an Oktoberfest flavour was one of my favourites so far.

(1) Amazing 930 Turbo in Apricot Beige (someone will correct me if I’m wrong!)

(2) Gunmetal grey over green V8 Vantage X-Pack interior, the car I would have taken home if I could have.

(3) Ferrari 550 Maranello Breadvan tribute by @nielsvanroijdesign . Reminded me of driving another one of their creations, a Rolls Royce Wraith shooting brake.

(4) Obligatory afternoon beer @ayinger_privatbrauerei with a view thanks to this 365 GTB 2+2 still sporting Cavalcade Classic stickers.

(5) First time spent looking at a Ferrari 12Cilindri ‘in the wild’ … it’s growing on me, and is certainly imposing.

(6) Finally and most importantly the people who make it all possible!

A few snap shots of some of the incredible cars of Villa d’Este ‘car weekend’.

Now firmly established this as one of the most exciting weekends in the car enthusiast’s calendar, this year’s event showed that we should expect significant growth of the weekend in the coming years.

Alongside the timeless class and elegance @concorsodeleganza_vde the newer event of @fuoriconcorso was a true standout. From a promising start the event has flourished into a uniquely charming show with high quality partners, real charm and some fantastic cars. Hats off to the organisers.

@broadarrow_auctions have picked up the official auction partnership, and with a new face at the gavel produced a solid set of results at this sometimes challenging venue. Following the strong Lamborghini results @rmsothebys earlier in the week, the highlight sales were the Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa (€7,543,750) and the much discussed Honda NSX-R (€934,375). taken in Villa D'Este, Lake Como, Italy by @pdarvill

TBT our record breaking #caffeineinjection event in Munich. We’ve been steadily building this biannual open day, from a small car and coffee to the 200+ cars we welcomed this month!

The array of cars was really incredible, including a Pagani Huayra Tricolore, two LaFerrari, a one-off Lamborghini LM002, 300SL Roadster, also in a unique period colour and finally a 4.5 litre Bentley!

The only question now is how to top this in September

Take three basic ingredients, great roads, some remarkable cars and most importantly a group of likeminded people, and you have the recipe for a lot of fun. Using cars as they were designed is the greatest joy of our hobby and the team behind @super_stick_shift and @berninagranturismo have fully embraced this philosophy. Thanks to @the_carlosophy and @auto__sportiva for letting me tag along today and for showing me what a Lamborghini Countach is really like on the open road.
