The Journey 🚀 by @pdnuge

Big thank you to the @weareinvictusgames for the opportunity to share my journey as a competitor and the vital role my family played in my recovery!

Competing at the games was an incredible experience, made even more special by having my family by my side. Their unwavering support has been my foundation throughout this journey, and I am proud to share how much they have meant to me.

I’d also like to thank @fisherhousefdtn for helping me and my family throughout my recovery process. by @pdnuge

Wrote an op-ed for my hometown paper, The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

It reminded me how far this journey has come and gave me a chance to share a few thoughts on service and purpose ahead of Veterans Day. by @pdnuge

9 years ago, I woke up in the hospital and was told I’d never walk again.

On Sunday, I finished my first marathon in the best city in the world.

The limit does not exist.

And a special shoutout to @louisalii, who ran this race last year and inspired me to give it a shot. Thank you for believing in me :)

Incredibly proud of this one and grateful to my family, friends, @achilles_international, and every stranger who cheered me on along the way.

24 hours from now I’ll be standing shoulder to shoulder with 60,000+ athletes from around the world at the NYC Marathon.

Words I never thought I’d write. And honestly, still can’t believe this is happening.

More than 2 million people will be cheering throughout all five boroughs, so the energy will be electric ⚡️.

This will be my first marathon (and not my last).

I’m feeling all the emotions. I’m nervous, I’m grateful, and I’m excited to finally find out what it feels like to finish a marathon.

My parents met running marathons. My fiancée ran NYC last year (after only running for a year). After hearing them talk about their experiences, I knew I wanted to find out what it felt like for myself.

So I have three goals tomorrow:

1. Finish
2. Don’t finish last
3. Enjoy every bit of it (smile through the pain)

I have no idea how long it’s going to take me. I just know I’m going to keep moving until the job is done.

Start: 9:10am ET
Finish: When the job is done

Meet @pdnuge, another all-star member of our CREATEAM! 🧡

This Sunday he’s lining up for the NYC Marathon as an adaptive athlete with one goal: crossing that finish line. His advice for anyone else running it is the same mantra that’s gotten him here: find a way.

Help us send Patricks some love this weekend! by @pdnuge

The CREATEAM takes on the NY Marathon 🤝

Six runners explain why they signed up to run 26.2 miles (weird, not one of them said it was for this new hot Create merch?!)

South Carolina will always feel a little bit like home to me.

It’s where I spent four of the most transformative years of my life at The Citadel.

So it was pretty special to be back last week speaking to the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina team through an opportunity from @voiceofgina, a friend and mentor who I’ve known since I was five years old.

The message was simple.

When life doesn’t go according to plan, we must FIND A WAY to own our response, take the next step forward, and keep raising the standard of what we expect of ourselves.

P.S. Somehow we didn’t get a picture together 😂 by @pdnuge

How to eliminate excuses from your life:

Don’t negotiate with yourself.

Incredible lesson from Marine Corps Captain @pdnuge on how he tactically handles the internal negotiation.

Don’t give yourself the option.

Gave the keynote and joined the panel for Sentinels of Freedom last week.

I’m a Sentinel myself, so this mission is deeply personal to me.

Someone asked me afterward what businesses, schools, and communities can do to help veterans transitioning home.

My answer was simple: give them a person, not a pamphlet.

When I got out, the moments that actually mattered came down to simple human connection. Someone picking up the phone, making an intro, or showing me a path I didn’t know existed.

@sentinelsoffreedom supports wounded vets through school, but the best part is having a real community in your corner. by @pdnuge

One year of Nugent Notes.

A year ago, I didn’t consider myself a writer. I just knew I had lessons and experiences I wanted to put into words.

Since then: 34 articles, 25,000+ words, and a lot of reps.

Somewhere along the way, writing became a much bigger part of my life than I expected.

Reps remove doubt.

You don’t need to be great at something to start. You just have to keep putting in the reps.

Year two starts now! 🚀
