LOYAL TO THE MARK
Since 2023, I have been developing my Soldier-Head series, using the figure as a constant while allowing its materials, surfaces, and processes to evolve.
Most recently, I have begun bringing paper and clay together within the same object—combining ceramic form with printed and embossed surfaces, paper, pattern, and other materials.

Pattern and color remain the threads connecting my work as an artist and designer. I continue to challenge one material to imitate another—paper to imitate clay and clay to imitate paper—while allowing each to retain its own memory, character, and history.

The final two images show A Debt of Gratitude (2023), from the original Soldier-Head series. Unglazed and bisque-fired, it has been resting in my garden since spring 2024, slowly developing a natural moss patina—another way in which material records time.

June 20 HOS Party DONE! ✅

Another beautiful day talking to all the lovely people that stopped by. Thank you to all that came!

Photos showcase what the pop up looked like this weekend. @pdpackard helped to curate product and elevate the space with her printed artwork and ceramic pieces, and even some of her own brewed black walnut ink! Swipe to the end to see that beauty.

Our display (stair)case included plants for sale, grown in PD Packard’s garden, with HOS-made brownstone paper bags. We also got to hang PD Packard’s shorts she designed for her own clothing line back in the 80s. So cool!!

We want every HOS Party to be better than the last, which all good things take time. So we will make sure to keep everyone updated for the next one!

Pushing the Boundaries of Color & Pattern

May 15–17 | 10am–4pm

Join me for a 3-day immersive workshop exploring Akua Liquid Pigments, kozo paper, and sculptural printmaking.
We’ll:
– Layer luminous washes and saturated color
– Blend printmaking with painting and dyeing techniques
– Explore Modular Pleated Kozo
– Transform prints into three-dimensional box forms

This process moves printmaking off the page and into form—where pattern, structure, and material come alive.
All materials and lunch are included. The class is intentionally small for a focused, immersive experience.
