Another derby in the books 🏁 We’ve made the patches, magnets, and pins for this race every year since 2021 and are so grateful to be a part of this community building event.

Congrats to everyone who raced, built, cheered and volunteered this weekend. ✨

Same time, next year? We’ll bring the pins 👀😎

A few stops around Montavilla with some longtime friends of the Derby.

Happy second anniversary to @covertcafepdx , one of our 2026 sponsors and a longtime Derby racing team. Stop by for coffee and keep an eye on their event calendar.

Join us at the Montavilla Street Fair on 7/26 from 10AM - 6PM. We’ll be in the parade, showing off a few Derby cars (no racing, just a chance to see them up close!), and we’ll have a booth where you can learn more about the Derby and sign up to volunteer.

@mrplywood is a family-owned local hardware store that has served Portland since 1963 and supported the Derby for more than a decade. Stop by for materials, tools, and expert help with your next build.

We’re still looking for race day volunteers. Sign up through the link in our bio, or come see us at the fair. taken in Montavilla by @pdxsoapboxderby

PDX Adult Soapbox Derby on Mount Tabor. Most of these were my first run on a Holga medium format camera on some Cinestill 400D, and the landscape shots on 35mm on an OM-1 using Optik Opticolour 200. Just some quick shots, nothing fancy, but a good time as always. 🤡 taken in Mt. Tabor City Park by @pdxsoapboxderby

Elton the Rocket Snail 🪩🐌🚀 What can I say, this was a little dream that turned into such a surreal experience. Getting to be a part of a long standing Portland tradition and racing down Mt. Tabor in the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby - I feel so lucky. Stars in eyes, butterflies in tummy, colorful joy.

Thank you @w0rmstorm @the.mrpoop @ellietate @handfactorypdx @leoneglassart @frankie4lions for helping bring Elton into existence. The world is more sparkly with all of you and Elton in it. 🪩🐌

Winning the Rookie of the Year award felt like frozen a moment in time that represents the joy and creativity that went into this. It felt like the @pdxsoapboxderby and its racers were giving us the warmest, sweetest hug and letting us into their world.

Looks like we started something that we’ll continue in for years to come! So thankful for this moment in time. Looking forward to many more heart racing/soul levitating/beautiful sparkly race days!!!!!! 😭✨🪩🐌🚀 taken in Mt. Tabor by @pdxsoapboxderby

There’s something special about Portland — creativity, playfulness, and community all coming together. 🏁✨

The @pdxsoapboxderby is one of those events that makes our city feel alive: creative cars, families cheering, laughter, and people simply enjoying being together.

The kids got to see Lightning McQueen, Mario Bros and Elvis behind the wheel, a Muppet monster, and so many more racing by — all while bubbles filled the air and cheers came from the crowd. 🫧🏎️✨

We love discovering the experiences that make Portland feel like Portland! 👽

At Pretzelyoguis, we also love sharing events for the whole family*and supporting our local community💛

Follow @pretzelyoguis for more local moments, creative experiences, and community happenings around PDX.
