I received a full tuition scholarship for my MPH degree! 🌟

Honestly, I can’t express how grateful I feel. Every time I say it out loud, I can’t help but tear up with joy. It’s surreal, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

Just a week into my new life in the United States, and I’m soaking up every moment of this amazing journey.

I have to give a huge shoutout to @getinedu and Dr. Babajide. Thank you for your invaluable guidance—I truly took your tips to heart! They were key to navigating the many steps I faced.

At one point, I found myself with five potential scholarship offers, and let me tell you, it was overwhelming! It really drives home the importance of knowing God and having a mentor; someone who sees your potential and genuinely wants the best for you.

I am absolutely grateful to all my mentors that contributed to this journey. Chukwu gozie lu m unu.

And to my family and friends who see me at my most vulnerable, that’s where I find my strength. 🥹🙇🏻‍♀️ Your shoulders were always available for me when I cried and ‘they gave me their moneyyyy’ (in TikTok tune) 😂

I’m so blessed to have you all in my corner!

This is exactly why I say I’m “The Girl Raised by Her Community.” ❤️

With great blessings come great responsibilities!
I’ve always been ready for this, so let’s dive in and make the most of it! 😃

This phrase above is something that I and a lot of other adults have said. Which is why I don’t want any child to say it when they are grown. This book was written for the purpose of preventing that.

It’s an age appropriate story book that introduces children to body safety.

With songs to learn and games to play at the end of each chapter.

Early body safety education is one of the ways to protect your child from any form of sexual abuse.

Pick this for your child or any child that you know.

Chimdindu Peace Ugwuanyi, MD, MPH

No, this is not just a title.
It is over a decade of hard work and preparation for the purpose God has placed in my hands.

It is a journey across nations and seasons;  from Nigeria to Ukraine, from Ukraine back to Nigeria and now the United States.

It is years of serving,
from a teenage Sunday school teacher,
to a medical student,
to teaching English in a refugee children’s center,
to serving in clinical spaces,
to building a nonprofit,
to contributing in global health spaces.

It is years of tears, building, rebuilding, learning, unlearning, and becoming.

It is choosing purpose over comfort, faith over fear, and impact over applause

And through it all, I have come to understand this: God is writing a story, one far bigger than me.
A story that will bring wholeness . 
When I look back in my life.
I am deeply grateful, grateful that Jesus found me, grateful that He placed in me a desire bigger than titles, a desire to serve Him with my life.
Today, I celebrate not just a degree, but a calling.

I met Dr. Jim Pipeon in Ukraine for the first time almost 9 years ago.
He was serving as a missionary. I was just one of many students learning, listening, and being shaped.

Last week in Denver, I saw him again completely unexpected.

Same heart. Same wisdom. Same pouring into people.

I even showed him our 2018 picture… because I knew I might just be one of many lives he touched.

But that moment reminded me of something deeper:

What started as simple curiosity turned into something deeply meaningful, it became my Master’s thesis.

I had the opportunity to explore a space I genuinely cared about: adolescents and young people in HIV care. This journey challenged me, stretched my thinking, and will continue to shape how I approach global health impact and research.

My interest in this field was first sparked in 2023 at the SAYPHIN Conference Nigeria, where I attended an inspiring session on adolescents living with HIV led by Dr. Amaka Momah-Haruna. That moment stayed with me and eventually guided me here.

When I decided to focus my thesis in this same space, everything aligned. This project became more than just an academic requirement, it became a story I’m truly proud to tell.

I’m incredibly grateful to my supervisors Dr. Neerav Desai , Dr. Muktar Aliyu , Dr. Aima Ahonkhai MD, MPH, and Dr. Sepiso K. Masenga (BSc., MSc., PhD., ISHF., PGDip.,FGHF), track advisors Elizabeth (Spitznagel) Rose and Marie Martin thank you for your guidance, patience, and unwavering support from the design stage to this milestone. I truly couldn’t have done this without you.

As I look ahead, I’m excited to keep building in this space, asking deeper questions, contributing to evidence, and advancing research that centers adolescents and young people in HIV care.
