Starting this September, schools across England are rolling out lessons specifically for boys on respecting women and girls. The curriculum covers consent, coercion, spotting the difference between a healthy relationship and a controlling one, and pushing back against online misogyny.
The update comes as schools try to counter the flood of manosphere content reaching younger boys online. Some say it’s long overdue, others think this responsibility sits with parents at home. Where do you land on this one? by @peaceful

A bride using the pseudonym Amy said she discovered her fiancé’s alleged affair just hours before their wedding, after receiving an anonymous message containing screenshots of conversations between him and another woman. She said the messages spanned from months earlier up until just days before the ceremony.
Rather than cancel everything on the spot, Amy decided to walk down the aisle as planned. Once she reached the front, she reportedly told the guests there would be no wedding after all and began reading the messages aloud one by one. Her fiancé eventually left the ceremony without responding.
Amy then told the guests the planned reception would go ahead anyway, reframed as a celebration of honesty, love, and following your heart even when it hurts. by @peaceful

Thomaz Vieira Gomes, known as 2N, is considered one of the most dangerous criminals in Rio de Janeiro. Back in January 2018, he did something strangely well intentioned, if still very illegal. He and his gang kidnapped two male nurses from a state run clinic and forced them to vaccinate residents of his favela against yellow fever during an outbreak that had already killed dozens across Brazil.

The nurses later said their captors weren’t aggressive at all, explaining that many residents simply couldn’t physically reach immunization centers to get their shots. After spending hours administering vaccines out of a local bar, both nurses were driven safely back to their workplace. by @peaceful

A driver in Florida allegedly hit five separate cars and told authorities he could only see the left and right lanes, apparently missing everything directly in front of him. It’s a bold explanation to offer up after a single collision, let alone five.

People online are having a field day imagining how that conversation with police actually went. At this point it sounds less like a driving mistake and more like he was navigating with a map folded in half. by @peaceful

A black Labrador named Tokyo reportedly got into cannabis while out hiking on Ben Nevis and started feeling seriously unwell shortly after. She lost the ability to use her legs, which meant rescuers had to physically carry her the rest of the way down the mountain.

A 14-person mountain rescue team ended up helping get her safely off the UK’s highest peak, after which she was taken to an animal hospital and had improved significantly by the very next day. It’s a strange story, but also a good reminder of just how dangerous discarded substances can be if pets happen to come across them outdoors. by @peaceful

A wave of resignation letters and messages from Gen Z workers has been going viral for just how far people are willing to take quitting a job these days. Some have shown up as blunt handwritten notes, others as texts, and some as brutally honest emails that don’t hold anything back.

One example making the rounds includes a note referencing the “ight imma head out” meme, signed off like an actual formal resignation letter. It’s sparked a lot of online discussion about how younger workers are approaching quitting differently than past generations, treating the moment less like a formality and more like a final, no-holds-barred statement. by @peaceful

A nurse in China found a creative way to get past a language barrier with a foreign student who needed surgery, using a handwritten note paired with simple sketches to explain the pre-op instructions. The message covered the basics: no food or water after 10 p.m., with the procedure scheduled for 8 a.m. the next morning.

The instructions themselves were clear enough, but one part of the drawing gave people pause, a small illustrated knife meant to represent the surgical tools, which ended up looking a little more unsettling than intended. Still, the gesture has been widely appreciated online as a resourceful way to communicate something important when words alone weren’t going to cut it. by @peaceful

An Uber driver named Onur Keley went viral after a passenger shared a photo of the note he keeps posted in his car for riders. In it, Onur explains that he’s deaf and asks passengers to text him or write things down on a small notepad if they need to communicate anything during the ride.

He also tells riders to relax and feel free to play their own music through the aux cord, even joking that he won’t be able to hear it but will enjoy the vibrations if it’s got a strong bass. The gesture has resonated with a lot of people online, who’ve praised how he manages to make communication simple while still keeping the ride feel warm and welcoming. by @peaceful

An 18-year-old saved up his own money to surprise his girlfriend with a car for her birthday, which is no small feat at that age. Instead of getting praise for the effort, he ended up facing criticism online from people who felt a used Honda wasn’t impressive enough compared to something newer or more luxurious.

The backlash missed the point for a lot of people watching the story unfold, since the value of a gift like that isn’t really about the make or the price tag. It’s about what someone was willing to save and sacrifice to make it happen in the first place, and plenty of people online pushed back on the critics for losing sight of that. by @peaceful

Khloe, a Jack Russell Terrier, became an online favorite after her owners set up a full professional maternity photoshoot to mark her very first pregnancy. Dressed in soft pink ribbons and floral accents, she posed against matching floral backdrops with her belly on full display.

The photos quickly caught on with dog lovers everywhere, who couldn’t get enough of watching a pup get the same kind of celebratory treatment usually reserved for human moms-to-be. It’s a small, sweet moment that turned into a much bigger viral hit than anyone probably expected. by @peaceful
