“Our ashes will be combined. So that no matter where we rise from them, we will do it together. Fate might not have chosen me to bear your soul mark, but I will make sure it knows that in this life and all the ones after, I will always be yours. I always have been.” ”

“Because there has never been anyone else in my heart but you, Peach. You take all the space in there with your attitude and sassy mouth. You left no one else a chance because no one has your eyes full of challenge, your soft hair, your perfect skin. No one has two crooked lower canines like you, three freckles that make an equilateral triangle on their right shoulder. No one makes my heart beat. And I don’t mean they make my heart skip a beat, or make my heart palpitate. I mean that when I’m not around you, I don’t feel my fucking pulse, do you understand that? I feel dead unless I can hear your voice that’s always a little too loud and opinionated, unless I can see that little vein on your forehead when someone angers you.”

“You have already captured my heart, body, and soul, Ava… I’d kill everyone if it meant I’d get to keep you. Perhaps that’s not the healthiest form of love, but it’s all I have. The heart you slowly awakened is entirely yours to do with as you please.”

“She walks in like she owns every single soul in this room. Like we should all be bowing at her feet. She doesn’t do it on purpose; I know she doesn’t. She doesn’t hold herself like a queen. No, queens were always in the shadows. Rose holds herself like a king. Like she owns the power, knows it and isn’t afraid to wield it.”

“The way he speaks is so vulgar, but coming from his mouth, it sounds like music. Caressing my body all over, wrapping me up with passion,
Rook is an aphrodisiac. From his hard glare to his steamy scent, he is intoxicating.
Walking sex. ”

“Peach’s red hair is in a long ponytail today, the sun reflecting in it. She’s a powerful woman. So tiny yet so damn powerful. She takes shit from no one.”

Tilting his head to the side, he observes me playing with her. “You know what. I already have one unbearable woman in my life. I’m not sure another one would be good for my sanity.” “No one cares about your sanity.” I scratch Little Sausage’s head, and when she licks my face, I laugh so hard, a squeal escapes me.

“Winter Hamilton, will you marry me?”
I smile through the tears. “Would hate to make a liar out of you after how long you’ve been telling people you’re going to marry me.”
He winks at me. “When you know, you know.”

“I just want him. The him that makes me feel alive and real. He pushes me to face life as I am and not as others want me to be. When I’m with him, it’s like knowing every day that tomorrow the birds will sing.”

“I find her eyes, seeing a woman who built herself from the last spark of her dying embers.
A phoenix.
One that makes no excuses for who she made herself into, no apologies if you get too close to her and find yourself scorched.
They’d ripped her wings from her back, but she replaced them with ashes and eternal wings made of the hottest blue flame. ”

“You know me. I love giving attention to admirers.”
A curve touches the corner of his lips. “So I’m one of the admirers now?”
“Clearly. Or you wouldn’t be following me around like a simp. Sorry, you’re not my type.”
