POSTS STORIES REELS

What the fuck am I doing in life? I woke up frustrated with myself every Monday after work. To you, it looked like I was riding a high getting paid to party and bring high energy to the wildest Clubs in Vegas, but inside none of that really left me feeling happy anymore. Pretending it was fine felt worse than admitting I was stuck. I just knew I needed a change.

I didn’t know what that change was.
No goal. No plan. No words for it.

My avoidant detachment was keeping me away from reality. Putting in work to address that and doing away with everything associated was the first step. Toxic relationships, booze and blow, gone. If you felt like my shift was sudden, it’s because it was.

The rare times I felt great about myself was when I was studying, in the gym or running. So, the first commitment to myself was leaning into what made me feel good. Eventually, I developed a love for the psychology of human performance and I went back to school.

That’s not the end of my story, that’s the beginning. I want to use this platform to tell my story, heal my younger self and connect with other individuals who strive to be a better version of themselves everyday.

I’m excited for this new journey.
LET’S RUN IT 📶 by @peak_mindset_

It’s been a week since I finished the @themammoth200
and if I had to sum it up in a few words,
HOLY SHIT comes to mind.

The views, the vibes, the people, and trail
were everything I hoped for and then some.

The physical part is one thing,
but the mental side?
That’s a whole different animal.

I can’t thank my boys @orozco and @iamty1er enough for coming out and pacing me. My coach @feet2feat for getting me dialed in. My girlfriend and crew chief @edesertgirl.
And finally, @zachredman and @richiesrandom for meeting me out there and getting me home.

While I spent countless hours training in isolation,
it was my team and the support of so many others
that made that finish possible.

I’m not sure what’s next, but I know it’ll be an adventure.

You ever get into one of those groves
where everything just seems to hit?

I had a few of those last week.
Felt like home runs all day.

Funny thing is,
none of it was all that complicated.

Just quality time with people I care about most.

I guess sometimes the biggest wins,
are rooted in simplicity.

“If you’re surrounding yourself with people who are telling you you’re doing a good job when you’re not, then your incentive structure is oriented toward mediocrity.

That’s not what I want.

I want the people around me to not only be honest with me, but also be striving.” @kiliankorth

This quote stopped me in my tracks because it accurately describes where I’m at in life at this very moment.

I want to see my people winning.
Honesty and Accountability required.

So, If you’re not on the train, then you’re on the tracks and we’re coming through.

When one of my best friends,
who happens to be a bodybuilder,
decided he wanted to hike a mountain
for his birthday, I was excited and nervous.
For both of us.

20 miles is a tall order for a big dude, and I’m used to running these things. Not hanging out and sightseeing.

Well, talk about good times. The day was full of food, laughs, and fun.

We dubbed it the Party Pace, and I was quickly reminded that some of the best experiences require slowing down and just taking it all in.

When my boy @iamty1er hit me up and said “You wanna go climb a mountain”?

It was like that scene from the movie the Town when he says “Whose car we taking”?

A few days later it’s a full on adventure out in the wild and I’m being reminded that this is exactly the kind of trouble I like getting into.

Fun fact:
Running above 10k elevation is like someone slowly turning down the oxygen while pretending nothing changed.

The person pretending nothing changed was Tyler.
I was fighting for my life out there. Lol. And he’s making sure I’m ready to run @themammoth200 in October.

Only way to get better is by raising the bar.

I’ve been thinking about this lately…

We won’t remember every mile.
Or a lot of the summits.

But years from now…
we’ll remember who was there.

The conversations about everything and nothing at all.
The laughs that stopped us in our tracks.
Those little moments where life slowed down.

Maybe that’s part of the puzzle.

In the end…
I don’t think we’ll remember every place we went.

We’ll remember who was there.

Recently, my crew and I connected to celebrate our brother, Drew, in the same way he brought us together for years: camping.

I took plenty of videos and pictures, but somewhere along the way I put the phone down.

Because some moments aren’t meant to be captured.
They’re meant to be lived.

Laughing. Telling the stories one more time and watching the people he loved continue to show up for each other.

The people we lose eventually become memories. But memories don’t have to sit on shelves.

They can become traditions. And traditions have a way of keeping us connected. So if you’re missing someone today don’t just remember them, give their memory somewhere to live.

Keep saying their name. Keep showing up. Keep the traditions alive. That’s how love keeps moving.

I’ve lost a lot of friends and family over the years, and while they’re no longer here physically, I still feel their presence from time to time in a myriad of ways.

Sometimes it’s a song whose timing is just too perfect for the moment, or when a group of us gets together and the stories we tell make it feel as though they’re still here with us.

Occasionally, it’s something more personal. Those signs are just for you and me. I see them, smile, take in that energy, and push on.

I see the signs often, and while I miss the good times we shared over the years, I’ll continue to smile when you show up to remind me that you’re still here, As long as I hold onto those memories, speak life into your name, and lead a life you would be proud of.

Be a practitioner, not a theorist.

We’ve become really good at collecting information.
Books. Podcasts. YouTube videos. Etc.

But confidence isn’t built by knowing.
It’s built by doing.

Training for 200 miles hasn’t taught me anything magical.
It’s just reminded me that experience will always outrank theory.

We don’t need another perfect plan.
We need another rep

Because on the other side of action is feedback.
On the other side of feedback is growth.

Because over time, we realize something.
We weren’t built by preparing.
We were built by practicing.

Be a practitioner, not a theorist.

Most people move to Vegas and the first thing they want to do is hit the strip to get shit faced. Miss me with that…

Not my boy @iamty1er though. First stop.
One of the highest peaks in Nevada,
and we didn’t just hike it…

we fucking SENT IT!!

Little backstory: 3 years ago, Tyler not only surprised me by signing up to run a friggin marathon with me at the last minute, but he also stepped up and made sure I didn’t quit on my way to a personal best at the time.

Nowadays, I’m training for my first 200-miler, and he’s still pushing me in ways I probably wouldn’t push myself.

Lock. The. Fuck. In. by @peak_mindset_

Lock. The. Fuck. In.

Those words have been echoing in my head
for the last few months.

Maybe that’s because
I’m pretty good at telling myself
that’s what I need to do…while also being
easily distracted.

And sometimes, there’s so much on the list
I don’t even know where to begin.

It’s hard to focus on one thing, when we’ve gotten so used
to consuming everything.

Constant stimulation.
Multiple tabs open.

But every so often, something clicks.

Procrastination overridden. Forward motion takes over.

And we fully give ourselves
to the thing in front of us.

No overthinking. No checking out.
And when we do, that feeling is unmatched.
