There are many uncertain things in this life, but one thing we’ve never had a doubt about was each other.

Four years together, most of it spent apart. We made it through time zones and distance with video calls, countless “I miss you” and “I wish you were here” messages, and more than a few expensive flights across three continents.

We’ve had misunderstandings that most of the time, just needed a long hug and a kiss. But instead, we had screens. We’ve said airport goodbyes more times than we’d like, one of us heading back to a bed still warm from the night before, the other settling into a 10-hour flight to Madrid, trying not to cry in the window seat.

Despite it all, we made it work. We gave each other the space to do what we needed. One of us travelled as much as she could; the other took time to heal from burnout and reconnect with family. We understood that to be whole together, we had to be whole on our own.

Many people have told us that we’re lucky. Luck only played its part when we found each other. It’s choosing each other everyday that made us stay together.

Ours is a love story we’ll never get tired of telling, because it reminds us that love, when it’s real, is worth the wait.

And now, we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives never f̶a̶r̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ parting 🤭

Vietnam 2018

21 days solo going from the south to the north, starting in Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi, with some side trips to Da Nang, Hoi An, and Sa Pa. And yes, I went to Ba Na Hills too, which is a French colonialist resort turned theme park.

I spent most of my 20’s spending a lot on international solo trips like I would never ran out of money lol. I earned the money back, but not the time and energy to go on a hike through Ban Cat Cat with strong H’mong women.

From the archives — Cinque Terre in 2022

Not sure what paradise looks like but Cinque Terre comes pretty close. Visited all five towns: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Monterosso al Mare, and Vernazza in four days. Stayed in La Spezia and just took the train to the towns. One of the best summers of my life with good friends.

A few photos from my solo trip to Japan in 2019.

I went from Osaka, Kyoto and then to Tokyo. It was a hard earned 25th birthday gift for myself. Film camera and a few rolls of 35mm film in hand, life was good. I love the kind of freedom that only comes with being truly satisfied with just being and by yourself. No one to please, no one to adjust to or wait on. Just yourself.
