sister @pop_rocky and I have an evolving project very dear to us that we have been building and making since 2025, although it’s a young project, the name we work under as Villa Peculiar comes from our great grandmother who named it as her home in Sydney, Australia in the 1930s. An open door home where ‘naked men with feather bowers’ would come and stay.

Our collaboration is both theatrical as well as film format, and this is a clip from one of our first live performances at @collingwood__house by @pearlspringvoss

Performance Review is back in the year of the Fire Horse with the second instalment of ‘Scene Report,’ a new series of reviews engaging with performance presented in A̶u̶s̶t̶r̶a̶l̶i̶a̶ by members of the local scene and touring international artists.

‘Scene Report’ #2 focuses on Jacob Coppedge’s Blue. Strap, Sit. (2025) for Performance Space Sydney’s Queer Development Program and VILLA PECULIAR (2025) by Rosa and Pearl Spring Voss. Both pieces, written by Joshua Edward of @no_more_poetry, take an expanded approach to the review format and play with bias as a structural device. There’s even a Wuthering Heights moment, timely we know.

VILLA PECULIAR at @collingwood__house was a site-specific hour-length performance that takes its name from The Villa Peculiar, our great-grandmother’s home in Hunter’s Hill, Sydney. Villa Peculiar was a meeting place for queer and trans artists, writers, goats and theatre makers. Curious about what it means to hold this lineage Villa Peculiar is an ongoing performance project between Rosa and Pearl Spring Voss as they weave their artistic and theatre disciplines.

In the Peculiar way this show wouldn’t have come to fruition without the other artists involved in making it happen.

@camillemoir @roslyn__orlando , Raphi and Ru who contributed their dramaturgical and artistic expertise and opened their home to us.
