☀️ PEDS Summer Reminders
Body image thoughts can come and go — some days they’re loud, other days they’re barely there. That’s a normal part of recovery.

When old thoughts resurface, it doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you might need a reminder of how far you’ve come. 🌼

☀️ PEDS Summer Reminders
Body checking rarely brings comfort. Reducing it in small steps can help create more headspace and less anxiety.

Social media can be a trigger or a support.
Choosing what you see is an act of self‑care. 🌼

☀️ PEDS Summer Reminders
If the lack of routine feels uncomfortable, it doesn’t mean you’re going backwards. It simply means you’re adjusting, and that adjustment takes patience.

Spontaneity can feel scary, but practising it gently can help retrain the brain away from ED thinking. 🌼

☀️ PEDS Summer Reminders
Recovery isn’t about forcing yourself into discomfort all at once. It’s about taking steps that feel possible, and celebrating the freedom that grows from them.

Ordering what you actually fancy can be a powerful step toward recovery. 🌼

Meals out can feel overwhelming in recovery, and that doesn’t mean you’re failing — it means you’re human.

Calorie labels can be triggering, and it’s okay to admit that.🌼

Sensitivity and Anorexia Nervosa
Do you have current or past lived experience of anorexia nervosa, and consider yourself a highly sensitive person?
We are conducting a study at the Department of Psychology, Royal Holloway, University of London exploring how sensitivity may relate to your experiences of anorexia nervosa, including its development, treatment, and recovery.
Participation involves:
Step 1: Completing a short online screening questionnaire (~10 minutes)
Step 2: If eligible, a one-to-one online interview via Microsoft Teams (~60 to 90 minutes), where you'll be asked to reflect on your experiences of sensitivity and how this may have shaped your experiences of anorexia and recovery
To take part you must:
Be aged 18 or over
Identify as a highly sensitive person (e.g. you feel things deeply, are easily affected by others’ moods, or are sensitive to your surroundings)
Have current or past lived experience of anorexia nervosa
Have received mental health treatment
Be English-speaking
What's in it for you:
The potential to understand anorexia through a new lens
Entry into a £50 Amazon voucher prize draw (all screened participants)
A £10 Amazon voucher for completing the interview
All interviews are confidential and quotes used from your interview will be anonymised by changing or removing any personally identifiable information
If you are interested in taking part, please follow the link below: https://rhulpsychology.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bDjgXKH5Xb7Mvyu
This study is being conducted by Geoffrey Mawdsley, a Doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, supervised by Dr Lucia Giombini. This study has received ethical approval from West London NHS REC (Iras: 372370) and Royal Holloway, University of London Research Ethics Committee.

Starting with foods that feel safe can make the experience manageable. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s staying present enough to enjoy the moment.”

☀️ PEDS Summer Reminders
Most of us don’t judge our friends by their bodies, yet we hold ourselves to a different standard. Offering yourself the same compassion you offer others can be a powerful shift.

Think about how you describe the people you care about. Their size isn’t what makes them important. The same is true for you.🌼

☀️ PEDS Summer Reminders
Holidays are a chance to rest, even if rest feels unfamiliar. Your body and mind benefit from slowing down, and reframing this time as an opportunity to recharge can make it feel less threatening.

Your body and mind deserve rest. Holidays are a chance to recharge, not a test of control. 🌼 by @pedsupport
