🏔️ KBMC 2026 | Ratsek Peak (3,970m) Summit Success 🇰🇬 The summit is never the end. It is the beginning of a mountaineering journey. Today, our KBMC Team 2026 successfully topped out on the summit of Ratsek Peak (3,970m)—a straightforward high-altitude technical mountain in Kyrgyzstan. I'm incredibly proud to have led and supported 9 of the first 12 Singaporeans to the summit of Ratsek Peak, excluding another 3 from Swee's group (They summitted before us this season) and possibly the first Chinese. Watching each member grow in confidence, overcome challenges and work together as a rope team has been far more rewarding than reaching the summit itself. Congratulations to our successful summiteers: 🇸🇬 Irfan (2023) 🇸🇬 Desirae (2023) 🇸🇬 Omar (2026) 🇸🇬 Phoebe (2026) 🇸🇬 Zaiedd (2026) 🇨🇳 Yi Lei (2026) 🇸🇬 Lester (2026) 🇸🇬 Haslinda (2026) 🇸🇬 Daniel (2026) 🇸🇬 Hirfan (2026) Mountaineering isn't about collecting summits. It's about becoming the kind of person capable of reaching them—with humility, preparation and respect for the mountains. I can't wait to see where this journey takes each of you next. Perhaps Elbrus, Kili Aconcagua... or even Everest one day. Congratulations, Team KBMC 2026. You've earned this moment. Here's to many more mountains ahead. 🏔️ Led by Chief Adventure Consultant, Jeremy Tong 🏔️ Expedition by @jtrace_sg 📸 Follow @jeremytongclimbs for more mountain adventures. As gross as it looks, these guys are harmless (even friendly). Bees are attracted to smelly clothes and bags because they are looking for salts and minerals to eat! And when we’ve been in the humid-ass jungle for 7 days without showering, best believe our bag were literally buffets for the bees. NGL, phoebe has the most bees tho. Does it mean she’s the smelliest? Hahaha by @peebzh
2025 Wrapped - Terrestrial Someone told me to post more, so I’m finally collating my favourite buggy moments of the year. They're all fairly common species, but being in good company is what made these memorable! 1️⃣ Mantisfly: A fly that is like a mantis (see the sharp claws). This was a v cooperative subject, perched above an ASMR stream 👂 2️⃣ Pseudoscorpions: Taking on a wasp 10× their size. They live in wooden handrails, so enjoy holding the handrails next time yeah. My first time meeting photog slayer, @andrewseahphotography 3️⃣ Long-jawed orb weaver: Hanging precariously off the edge of a boardwalk in Pasir Ris mangroves. Had fun shooting this. But the friend I was with has since gone MISSING. I swear it is a coincidence 4️⃣ Lichen huntsman: Fun to gamify on a long walk! See who can spot most of them (not me) @j0.lyn 5️⃣ Ant-snatching assassin. Decorates itself with decapitated ants! So that it can blend in and murder more ants 6️⃣ Lacewing nymph. Leaf cosplay. It has murder jaws in front like a kiap ✌️ The adult form looks like a tiny fairy, which is nice la but still feels like a glow-down to me 7️⃣ Leafhopper (Hylicinae i think). Crazy camouflage??? Only noticed it because I was dissociating and staring at nothing. Proof that zoning out has benefits hahah 8️⃣ Spitting spider. Shoots sticky gunk to capture prey. However it did not demo for us. The ocean is full of tiny marvels - who else is obsessed with these? Did you know the first species, Bargibant’s pygmy seahorse, was discovered completely by accident? 🐴 Marine biologist George Bargibant only spotted it after collecting a gorgonian sea fan in 1969! Measuring under 2 cm, these tiny seahorses remained hidden for centuries. Since then, eight more species have been identified, with the latest described in May 2020. This series of photos was contributed by @peebzh from Ocean Canvas 2025! 📸✨ by @peebzh
Brush-footed Trapdoor spiders hang out in underground holes sealed by a "door". When they sense an insect walking past, they fling open the door and capture their next meal, just like us when GrabFood is left at the doorstep. Thanks @artofherping for your powerful eyeballs 👀 by @peebzh
Hammerhead flatworms are carnivores. They capture snails and other prey by liquifying them with digestive slime! (not by hammering with their heads; thank you to those who have suggested the idea) 💛 @j0.lyn and @suntographi for always finding worms by @peebzh
With its fast legs, the Golden Huntsman Spider (Olios sp.) doesn't need a web to catch prey! Its default speed is 30 body lengths per second, giving close-up photographers a heart attack. ID-ed by @neo.wildlife and @shawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn by @peebzh
The Black-eyed Litter Frog (Leptobrachium nigrops) is a creature of the night. It lives on the forest floor and is named for its eyes, which are darker than my CNY wardrobe. 🥷 Thanks to @zacurry_czk for spotting! And to @ianmun.thebun @red4hw for sharing the froggy joy by @peebzh
