Which gets your vote, snakes or bats? Let us know in the comments! Snakes brumate; they have a lower metabalism and sleep more, but will wake up, move, and drink on warmer days. Some snakes brumate in groups. Bats are one of the few animals that truly hibernate - long periods of torpor or lowered metabolism, low heart rate, deep sleep. If they are not hibernating, many bats migrate to warmer areas and return when weather gets warmer. Both snakes and bats have a creepy reputatation but both snakes and bats are increadibly important for pest and insect control. #peecintonature #outdoors #hikingadventures by @peec_pa
