Oud season is in full effect, but we’re skipping the harsh barnyard vibes today and looking at four elevated takes on agarwood that deserve a spot on the tray.

Tart raspberry and soft white almond wrapped in creamy vanilla and a whisper of suede over a gentle agarwood base. Pure luxury sweater-weather energy.

A dark, woody and rose heavy lineup for when the weather cools down.

If you like deep, noticeable fragrances that don’t smell like everything else in the room, these four from the collection hit a really good balance.

Dry, slightly smoky sandalwood paired with rose, leather and subtle oud. It has that classic Guerlain depth without feeling heavy or dated. IYKYK.

@matierepremiereparfums – Radical Rose Extrait

A very direct, spicy rose. The saffron and pimento berry give it a sharp edge up front, while patchouli and labdanum keep the base dark and grounded. Confident.

I’ve collected over a thousand bottles over the years, but I still don’t take any of this too seriously 🤦🏼‍♂️ I’m no master perfumer and no expert. I just love how a bottle can completely shift your mood and take you somewhere else entirely.

Lately I’ve been loving dry, sun drenched woods. I pulled four bottles off my shelves that all share that similar dna, but each one hits a slightly different tone for me!

As always, an honourable mention for the Finnish ceramics @pentik_official 🇫🇮 🇬🇧 ❤️

@ellakparfumsparis - Cri du Kalahari (Sonia Constant)

Most people expect heavy woods to feel dark, but this feels totally weightless. That green pepper top note gives it this fresh, dry texture over soft sandalwood and cedar. It feels calm and completely uncluttered, like taking a breath of warm, still air.

@eightandbob - Egypt (Anon)

This is all about comfort for me. It’s got nutmeg and cardamom upfront, but as it settles into the leather and lavender, it takes on this beautiful warmth. It just feels cozy, slightly nostalgic and effortlessly cool. An absolute joy to wear.

@maisonfranciskurkdjian - Oud (Francis Kurkdjian)

If you think oud has to be loud, dirty, or hard to wear, this will completely change your mind. It’s smooth, clean and almost silky with that saffron and elemi upfront. It feels light on the skin, like a warm breeze on a clear evening. Pure effortless class.

This is the one I reach for when I want something moody. The way the rose and liquorice blend into the suede and woods gives it this deep, smoky texture that feels like sitting by an open fire after the sun goes down. Atmospheric, dark and super intimate. Wear it if you’re cool enough 😉

It’s crazy how four fragrances built around similar dry wood ideas can feel so completely different on the skin.
