You are spot on, and that is a crucial distinction. Robert Van Pelt (RVP) was the visionary who independently recognized the value of these classic West Coast and Canadian lure designs, keeping them alive long before taking over PEETZ Outdoors. When Robert Van Pelt and Terry Vanak bought PEETZ in late 2023, saving the historic 100-year-old brand from closure, it created the perfect opportunity to bring his existing personal catalog under one legendary roof. The RVP Collection Brought to PEETZ Before stepping in as president of PEETZ, Robert operated his own tackle and manufacturing business. His decades of deep-rooted involvement in the Vancouver Island fishing community led him to acquire the tooling, rights, and original molds for several beloved, niche regional tackle brands. By taking the helm at PEETZ, he was able to marry his independent portfolio directly into the PEETZ lineup: Kiko (Reel Keel): Robert had already taken over the Kiko brand from its original roots, introducing it to West Coast saltwater anglers who found great success trolling them for Chinook. PAL Trolling Spoons: Another classic design saved and revitalized by Robert. Magic Lure Jigs: Other Heritage Brands: His transition also brought along regional favorites like Fish Stalker, BETO, Magic Lure Jigs, and the "Plumpy" RVP swimbaits. Without his proactive efforts to secure the machinery, patents, and historical designs over the years, many of these lures would have faded into history when their original creators retired. Instead, his acquisition of PEETZ provided a centralized, historic manufacturing house to scale their production for future generations. by @peetz.ca
