happy release day: 'Unfurling' by Pefkin is out now. really happy to share this one with you - it's the fourth time we're putting out a full length lp of hers (not counting the split lp with roxane métayer), and it's safe to say: she's one of the rare artists that gets better with every single release.

The familiar Pefkin elements are present: melodies that unfold patiently and graciously, with textures so vivid they feel almost tangible. Across six tracks, around forty minutes in total, the album is more focused than ever, with instruments and sounds flowing seamlessly into one another, leaving ample space for each melody to breathe. Pefkin creates her own microclimate, an environment both intimate and expansive.

the lp comes in a screenprinted sleeve, with insert and download code, and is yours for 20 euro + shipping. and yes, this album is also part of the ongoing '3 for 50 euro' deal. a selection of great distro's will have this one in stock as well (list in comments). of course, this one is up on bandcamp too, but we can get the shipping done a couple of euro's cheaper if you order directly via us. but in any case: enjoy the album, it's great!

Nov and Dec will be epic, too - first with @mikeykenneyfiddle @_andyraven_ @itsmattcanty trio NIP HILL bringing the fireworks on Thurs 5 November, and then HENRY PARKER @henryparkerbfd weaving folk fretboard wizardry on Thurs 3 Dec (please note corrected date).

Having a few days not doing much apart from wandering and birdwatching.
Next up for me is three gigs in a row, 2 Burd Ellen gigs, only the one in Sowerby Bridge at the Puzzle Hall Inn on 1st October has tickets left.
Third in the trio is a gig for Neighbourhood Watch at Mary St Live on 3rd October.
I’m then part of an improv quartet on 23rd October at Bishops House alongside John Jasnoch (oud), Gillian Whiteley (viola), Derek Saw (tuba) supporting Steve Malley and Raymond Macdonald. by @pefkin

I had an incredible time at New Ruins up at @thelubberfiend and honestly you can just wire Smote directly into my veins. Obviously I was front of stage to get that amped-up viola action. by @pefkin

Playing New Ruins, Saturday 19th December at 1600

Pefkin is the alter ego of Gayle Brogan, a prolific solo musician and a part of many groups and collaborations in the UK’s weird-folk fringes. Pefkin’s sound creeps, unfolds and emerges from the beauty and complexity of the natural world. These sonic landscapes take on ritualistic qualities, pulling those in its orbit into symbiosis. Her layering of vocals, strings, electronics, found objects and field recordings creates varied textures and aural space. A prolific recording artist, Pefkin has released on labels such as, Wild Silence, Reverb Worship, Digitalis, Pseudoarcana, Nite Hive and Siren Wire and several sold-out lathe cuts on Sonido Polifonico. Her most recent album, ‘Unfurling’, was released on Morc in 2026. by @pefkin
