It was a great two nights in Shanghai with the greats Steinar Nickelsen on organ @steinarnickelsen and Guillaume Palomba on drums @guillaume_drummer First night at the House of Blues and Jazz @hobj_shanghai where we had not only one great trumpetist joining us but two! In the first photo you can see @toby_trumpet_ttechmak . He was burning the whole night and for the end of our gig we had the trumpet hero Theo Crocker @theocroker blessing us with his fabulous playing. Second night at the Wooden Box which was fun and pretty packed. I also got to meet briefly my godson Jonni with his girlfriend @jonnivi Last night I was in Shenzhen, playing at the Jazz Paradise and tonight I have my last gig in China for this time at the fantastic Golden Jazz Art Center @goldenjazzartcenter with a great line-up. Halloween Jazz! Join us if you can, it will be fun! Happy Halloween everyone! #livejazz #livemusic #tour #pekkapylkkanenasiatourfall2026 by @pekkasmusic

Friday as usual- playing saxophone on a violin-turned-into-a-boat in a canal with another saxophonist who happens to be Jody Espinosa (@jodyjazzinc). What else? The scenery and feel of this town is just breathtaking... And to add: these rhythm sec tracks are incredible (we just couldn't them too well), a big up for @the_feel_book ! #EddieHarris #ColdDuckTime # #Wuxi #Shilifangdi @pekkapylkkanen @jodyespinosa pekkapylkkanenasiatourfall2026 ABSOLUTELY NO AI by @pekkasmusic

Haven't posted food photos here for a long time, but decided to send just these I made today (among a billion other things): - Fusilli with smoked salmon (capers, onion, garlic, bell peppers, zucchini, green chili, olive oil, parsley - Sourdough bread Should I keep posting more food photos? Have a great week! by @pekkasmusic
Thanks a million for your lovely and heart-warming birthday messages a couple of days ago, dear friends!!! You really made my day!! Apologies if I didn't personally respond to each- I my best but sometimes the messages seems to disappear before you get to write back. Anyhow- my sincerest idea was to respond everyone and to each mesaage personally. My bad if I flunked.. Let's stay connected! Life is so much better like that. For me, this week has passed with- not hard to guess- John Coltrane's music. We are all so fortunate to have access to this incredible, powerful yet sophisticated and lyrical music (no matter which 'style' or 'period' you decide to choose of his career- those arw always present) - and we could continue with the superlatives until the next morning if we wished to.. Have a fantastic end of September, my friends! Much love!!! by @pekkasmusic
Great memories from Bangkok a couple of years ago with my friends @kohmrsaxman and Mr. Tee by @pekkasmusic
A short fragment of @joonashaavisto 's fantastic piano solo on Everytime We Say Goodbye (C.Porter song but arranged very close to John Coltrane version on the My Favorite Things album) to celebrate Coltrane's Centennial (tomorrow Sept 23rd!). The video was shot at @botaniajoensuu Garden Party a few weeks ago. It was a super nice gathering and the band played great! Joonas Haavisto on piano Filemon von Numers on bass @filemonvonnumers Veikka Kajamies on drums @veikkakajamies Yours truly on alto and soprano saxes. I'll be soon on the road again- heading to China, Hong Kong and Quatar first. Then a bit later to UAE and (again) China, and a few other countriea. All dates will be posted soon, so please stay tuned! Peace and Love to all! by @pekkasmusic
It was great to back in Joensuu (my old hoods for a few years) and play at @botaniajoensuu Garden Party! I was joined by the greats Joonas Haavisto on piano @joonashaavisto, Filemon von Numbers on bass @filemonvonnumers and Veikka Kajamies on drums @veikkakajamies. We had a decent crowd despite the night getting chillier by time and when we ended it must have been around 14 degrees Celsius. Beautiful night and lovely people. Hope to go back at some point soon! Now some more work in Helsinki before heading out to Asia again and a week in Quatar. I'll post the final dates soon, so please stay tuned! 🙏🏼 #JazzInFinland #Joensuu #PekkaPylkkanenQuartet #SuomiJazz by @pekkasmusic
My soprano solo on Up Jumped Spring (F.Hubbard) with the great Roberto Tarenzi @rtarenzi from The Piano Man in New Delhi @tpm.del last December. It's always lots of fun and inspiring to play duo with Roberto, every now and then we seem to end up in places I have never thought about before! Perhaps not so radical or anything, but it goes well beyond any ahead-practiced or planned stuff and brings both joy and feeling of liberty. Should we make a duo recording together? If you wish to watch the whole take, you can find it on my YT Channel, link in bio. Thanks for watching! #pekkapylkkanenrobertotarenziduo #pekkapylkkanenindiatour2025 @finland_in_india by @pekkasmusic
