My muses since I can remember, bc I honestly don’t remember much pre-keiki.

It’s always funny when I shoot clients and they ask if I have any kids. And honestly my whole approach as a photographer is based on who I am as an empathetic overly-sensitive native Hawaiian mother of 6 wild keiki. It’s why I care about how I shoot, why I’m shooting, where I’m shooting and the way I make you feel. (It’s also why posting is hard for me and I am horrible at marketing and running an IG🤣)

Mahalo nui to all of you who have trusted me to be that person ❤️🫶

Side note: they all screamed at me bc they didn’t want me to take their picture and then I said ok and that made them all uncomfortable so then they asked me to pose them 🙄 by @pekunahong

Since I’ve met Steve, hes always reminded me of a monk seal when he’s in the water, how fluid and graceful he is, his coconut head when he’s just floating or snorkeling. And now I have little versions of him that remind me of monk seals and coconut heads and I know they are mine from afar 🤎 by @pekunahong

It’s the last day of September which is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. This summer made a whole decade since she battled stage 4 Burkitts lymphoma. One day this summer I felt like I was being watched, kept looking around like ok who’s pranking me?? Hoailona all day everywhere, it was one of those days and then I felt a presence at sunset and it hit me. That was the day 10 years ago that we finally got admitted. After taking her in to the doctors everyday for a week, my naau was telling me something was so wrong, I told the drs I think she had cancer. They laughed, they dismissed me, until that day. I know our kupuna worked all their magic. They said if she hadn’t been admitted that day she probably wouldn’t be with us. It’s crazy. But I trust them and I listen whole heartedly now more than ever. And I knew that day they were reminding me, we are still right here, we always are.

It changed our whole life and I can’t even write this without crying. It’s crazy how it hits you later, how you still have to deal with shit 10 years later, healing and figuring things out even though she’s cancer free, yet every moment of growth and now adulting(!) is a marvel. I’ve always been hard on her, and I’ve been trying to break down the walls I know she built up to protect herself and us… but watching her now making choices and having a hard time choosing where she wants to go in life…. It’s such a blessing 😭 thank you to everyone who has been by her side and for loving this amazing girl of ours. by @pekunahong

DAY 2- NY to DC

Of course we finally got some rest and felt more like ourselves and right when we found spots we wanted to explore more we had to leave and get on an Amtrak to DC.. which was really nice actually. Train stations are so beautiful! And yes you know I planned a whole trip around these leggings which I loved so much I ordered another extra pair a couple years ago but so fun to match in the city.

And I knew a tooth would fall out when I left! by @pekunahong

Day 1 in NY
Red eye no sleep zombies all day but still found some adventure all day long despite me falling on my face like a 🤡 and bleeding all over myself till we got out of Central Park to the museum and could get some first aid 😂 never a dull moment. And I’m the worst homesick traveler ever sorry Sunny 🙃 So proud of ourselves for figuring out how to get to Midtown from the airport thanks to @maliakaleopaa

The “littles” are forever the littles, but man they’re getting big ✨ and I’m relishing watching kids growing up with my hands free and not being strapped into an ergo, thank goodness bc this humimidity makes me so thankful that my body is my own and I’m not attached to or growing another human rn! by @pekunahong
