AGE IS JUST A NUMBER ?!🤫The older I get, the more I realize the phrase “ age is just a number” isn’t entirely true even though I get the context sometimes. With the “number” and seasons comes situations or even scenarios you can never understand or process or even get to think about until you experience it or even live it.Which age comes REALizations, very rude and shocking ones in fact!Things started dawning on me the year I turned the age my mum conceived me and I couldn’t imagine how she went through all of that without her mother. Because, there I was with my mother and even without a child and I can’t imagine navigating my life without my mother.Then, I began to understand why she did, said and acted the way she did sometimes. She was just a young woman living life for the first time and even worse without the help of her mother as a woman who has once walked that path. So, she had to be strong and make tough decisions and also make huge sacrifices while at it.I had to be responsible for other humans other than myself for some months and I honestly wanted to run away. I saw myself walking away from me, then I realized why my mum had to choose herself sometimes for sanity sake so she can be my mother for longer. To me then, it felt like she was not seeing me, unknown to me that I had already become her reason for choosing herself. Even when she chose herself, she did because of me.I learnt how to be strong from my mother because she is the strongest woman I know. MY SUPERWOMAN!I don’t think I can even have enough to take care of this woman like I think she deserves. Even if I own the whole world and she starts to think I am doing more than enough for her, I still don’t think that will be enough.To the woman who laid down her life to give me a chance to live, I say thank you.To the woman that keeps mothering me even when she can now withdraw and rest, I say I honor you.To the woman who keeps giving regardless of the returns she gets or doesn’t, I say I see you.Do you still boldly say I don’t owe anyone, it is my life?
