The most amazing thing happened! Josh Bott came by last night to give us one of Conrad's cards that he's had for over 10 years, along with a photocopy of a page from Conrad's website. Both had been autographed by the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne!

Josh is one of Conrad's good friends from high school. Pinkie and I first met him during freshman orientation, and he's been part of the family ever since.

Josh now works for a high-end car dealership here in the desert. In his position, he's the man who deals with celebrities. Last week he had to meet with Ozzy at Ozzy's house in Los Angeles. During this visit, Josh told Ozzy about Conrad. He said Ozzy was genuinely interested. Josh showed him Conrad's website, Ozzy expressed his condolences and then graciously signed both items.

Josh, I can't begin to express what this means to Pinkie and me. I'm still processing this and how it fits into the grander scheme of things. It boggles my mind on so many levels. OZZY SIGNED ONE OF CONRAD'S CARDS AND A PAGE FROM CONRAD'S WEBSITE! The awesomeness and enormity of this... wow, just, wow...

As a parent you want your child to be remembered and known. And that's not to say that Conrad would be forgotten by those who knew and loved him. But, we realize he'll never be known and remembered by those who never did.

So, I print business cards for Conrad. They've got his name, dates, and his website address. We've given them to Conrad's friends and family over the years to spread around to, you know, tell the world about Conrad. I leave them everywhere myself. We do this so that those who have never met Conrad, just might.

Josh took it to another level; he went for the gold. He went for what I never even considered remotely possible. Thanks to him, Ozzy has met Conrad, his #1 fan

I may have been on a social media hiatus this summer, but I didn't stop looking for new music

New-old music in this case

'Ride The Rainbow - The Ultimate Tribute To Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow'

Released just this year (June 19, 2026) by Cleopatra Records

I love tribute albums. They can be hit or miss for sure, but this one's really solid from beginning to end. Check out the track listing and artists assembled here. Hell, at least six are Rainbow alumni, so you know this album's gotta be good

That cover art is killer, too 👊

This album rocks, no question. And, no surprise, the Ronnie James Dio era covers are among my favorites🤘

I also got the cd, and when you buy through Bandcamp you get the digital download in multiple formats, which is pretty damn cool, too 😎

An unexpected bonus was the poster the record was wrapped in when it arrived. I'm a #posterwhore it's true, and this one kicks ass big time. It'll be framed and on the wall soon

Track list and contributing artists:

1. 'Long Live Rock ’n’ Roll'
Bob Daisley, Graham Bonnet, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Carmine Appice, Don Airey

2. 'Man on the Silver Mountain'
Sebastian Bach, Doug Aldrich, Bob Daisley, Carmine Appice, Mick Box, Jonathan Cain

3. 'Stargazer'
Derek Sherinian, Marty Friedman, Vinny Appice, Jürgen Engler, Joe Bouchard, Ronnie Romero

4. 'Lady of the Lake'
Angel

5. 'Rainbow Eyes'
Mike Tramp

6. 'Since You Been Gone'
Marty Friedman, Vinny Appice, Graham Bonnet, Jürgen Engler

7. 'Kill the King'
Rick Wakeman, Bob Daisley, Vinnie Moore, Marc Lopes, Chris Adler

8. 'The Temple of the King'
Steve Morse, Phil Soussan, Ronnie Romero, Simon Wright, Jonathan Cain, Kevin James Morse

9. 'Jealous Lover'
George Lynch, Vinny Appice, Andrew Freeman, David Ellefson, Jonathan Cain

10. 'I Surrender'
Eric Gales, Tim "Ripper" Owens, Phil Soussan, Don Airey, Chris Adler

11. 'Catch the Rainbow'
Doogie White, Derek Sherinian, Chris Poland, Vinny Appice, Bob Daisley

12. 'Street of Dreams'
Paul Shortino, Joel Hoekstra, Joe Bouchard, Fred Aching, Jonathan Cain

13. 'Stone Cold'
Vivian Campbell, Joe Lynn Turner

I hope you're doing well

Starting out my week on the mellow side with the Eagles' 'Hotel California'

Shoutout to @christinavinylphile , the lovely hostess of #mellowgoldmondays

Originally, I owned this album on 8-track. Over the years, it's become one of the few albums of which I own multiple variants, in multiple formats

That's not because I'm a big Eagles fan; I'm not. I'm more of a minor casual fan, not even close to a fanboy. I mean, they definitely take up some space on my shelves, but they've never been on my A-list of go-to music

Except for this album

Released in 1976, 'Hotel California' hit at a fairly decent time in my life, and has always had good feels connected with it. This would probably be one of my "desert island" albums

Today I'm going with Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's 2023 press that I picked up last year from Matt at @spatulacityrecords

It's a double vinyl boxset that spins at 45rpm. There are no extras or bonus tracks. I'm not usually a fan of splitting a single record album into two records, unless there's bonus stuff, too, but, man, this album sounds so sweet here I'm not going to complain

Full transparency: there's a digital component to this recording. Per Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab this record is "Specially Plated and Pressed on 180g of High-Definition Vinyl. Pressed on SUPERVINYL™.
SuperVinyl™ formula developed and manufactured by NEOTECH
1/4" / 15 IPS / Dolby A analog master to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe."

Saw this on ebay a few weeks ago and hit the 'buy now' button without thinking twice

It's a 7" Black Sabbath carnival mirror of their 1981-1982 World Tour logo #sopretty

That was the Mob Rules tour #ifyoulistentofools

I saw that tour and still have the shirt I got at the show #itdoesntfitanymore

And this mirror matches that shirt #ohboy

Listening to Anders Buaas' 2023 reissue of his 2017 solo release 'The Witches Of Finnmark'

I first discovered Norwegian guitarist and composer Anders Buaas through his 2022 album, 'The Edinburgh Suite'. Highly recommended

'The Witches Of Finnmark' is the first of a trilogy of albums by Buaas that are inspired by the book, 'Ved porten til Helvete' (At the Gates of Hell) by Norwegian historian Rune Blix Hagen

Some history:

In the early 17th century, roughly 3,000 people lived in the northernmost county of Norway known as Finnmark

This remote area of the Norwegian Arctic was also known as the 'Gates of Hell' for its harsh and foreboding climate. This gateway to Satan’s domain was considered ground zero for witchcraft and blasphemy

Over 130 people of this small populace were accused of witchcraft. Eventually, 91, almost all of them women, were convicted after being mercilessly and brutally tortured in the most unimaginably gruesome and grotesque ways possible. Those that survived the torture were burned to death

This is a progressive instrumental album. Think Mike Oldfield, Al DiMeola, Jeff Beck, and Yngwie Malmsteen mixed with Norwegian folk music

It's an exceptional record, peaceful, yet haunting🤘

Buaas plays all guitars, keyboards, and effects here, with Rune Erling Pedersen on drums, and Are With Gogstad on bass

The killer cover art is 'Old Witch' by Yannick Bouchard

Fun trivia: Two tracks on this album, 'The Witches of Finnmark' and 'Bitter Winds', were originally written with vocals in mind

More fun trivia: Anders Buaas, as Andy Boss, is a former touring guitarist for Paul DiAnno and Tim Ripper Owens. He is also the founder of the Larvik Guitar Festival

Holy hell! Look what came in my mail today:

Black Sabbath's 'Turn Up The Night' picture disc

Fronted by the amazing Ronnie James Dio, 'Turn Up The Night' is the second single released from the second Sabbath studio album with Dio, 1981's 'Mob Rules'. I saw the Mob Rules tour, which makes this disc super cool to me

But wait, there's more...

The song on flip side, the side with the band photo, is 'Lonely Is The Word' from the first album Dio recorded with Sabbath, 1980's 'Heaven And Hell'. I love this song, and it's a great closer to a masterpiece of an album. I saw this tour, too, and that just doubles the super cool factor

For the record, I don't play picture discs. They're all wall art to me. This one's going to look great in my office. I'll definitely hang the side with the cross and devil guy showing. And if you didn't know already, his name is Henry

Shoutout to Matt at @spatulacityrecords for this record. Thanks, man, you rock✌️

Earlier this month on March 6th, Shudder network broadcast the final episode of 'The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs' #sadness

Still, despite the series' cancelation, Shudder will broadcast four new Joe Bob specials this year. The first is next month on April 24 titled 'Joe Bob’s Wicked Witchy Wingding', which pays tribute to the host’s favorite holiday, Walpurgisnacht. There's also a summer edition planned along with Halloween and Christmas specials

Oh boy!

'The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs' soundtrack is from the series's musical director, John Brennan. The tracks are taken from the original 'Last Drive-In' marathon through season 3:

Side A:
1. Joe Bob Is Back In Town
2. The Drive-In Oath (Punk Version)
3. Nobody Sees The Flowers But Me (Hey, Travis Crabtree)
4. Song Of Madman Marz
5. Come On, Mary Lou (It's Prom Night II)
6. Lonely Red Christmas
7. Bloodsucking Freak
Featuring – Chris Jericho
8. Lizard Of Industry
9. The Drive-In Oath (Remix)
10. Joe Bob Is Back In Town (Acoustic Version)

Side B:
1. Joe Bob Is At It Again (Alternate Theme Song Demo)
2. Frogtown Blues
3. Halloween Hideaway (Part I)
4. Halloween Hideaway (Part II)
5. Halloween Hideaway (Part III)
6. Darcy The 13th
7. Joe Bob Is Back In Town, Charlie Brown
8. Spookies Rap
9. Chili Bandit
10. Tailspin
11. Clint Howard (Thank You)
12. Monster Mash

Fun trivia: Both sides end in a locked groove. Side A ends in the word "Shit" repeated. Side B ends in a Jew's Harp

Shoutout to Scott at @soundtracksunday , the amazing host of #SoundTrackSunday

Thursday again, and that means #millenniumchallengeday
This week it's all about a favorite album from 2010

I've chosen David "Rock" Feinstein's 2010 solo project 'Bitten By The Beast' to fill that tag

David Feinstein is the frontman, guitarist, and founding member of The Rods. He's also Ronnie James Dio's cousin, and used to be a member of early RJD led bands Ronnie Dio & The Prophets, The Electric Elves, and Elf

This album was released 6 months after Dio's death, and I bought it then. While the album is great rock n' roll on its own, what makes it special is the track 'Metal Will Never Die', which features Ronnie James on vocals, in what would be one of his last recordings

This album was only released on cd in 2010. This is the US digipak version

However, I just found out this morning that 'Bitten By The Beast' was pressed on vinyl in 2024, and @hivoltagerecords had one in stock. So, I ordered it right away because of course I would
@dona_pinkie

Shoutout to Mike at @mikesch.music for hosting the #millenniumalbumchallenge

Happy St. Patrick's Day to those that celebrate 🇮🇪

Keeping it Irish, I'm spinning some Thin Lizzy today

'The Boys Are Back (Live In Chicago 1976)' is another unofficial release of Thin Lizzy’s concert at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on April 21, 1976

Recorded and broadcast during the band's Jailbreak tour by Chicago FM radio station WXRT, the concert was part of the station's UnConcert series, which was sponsored by 7up, the 'Uncola', and aired on Sunday nights

This is a 2021 press from the Netherlands. The recording has been 'unofficially' released a number of times over the years under different album titles like 'The Irish Dawn Chicago', 'The Boys Are Back In Chicago', 'Back In Chicago!', 'Breaking Out In Chicago', 'Jailbreak At The Riviera', 'Warriors On The Loose', and 'Jailbreak In Dimension 5'

Some of those albums have extra or bonus tracks because they're on cd or double vinyl; some have the songs in different order. All of them have the 11 tracks on this release

It's a really decent recording of live Thin Lizzy

Side A:
1. Jailbreak
2. The Boys Are Back in Town
3. Emerald
4. It’s Only Money
5. Blues Boy
6. Warriors

Side B:
1. Rosalie
2. Suicide
3. Angel from the Coast
4. Sha-La-La
5. The Rocker

Fun trivia: Be Bop Deluxe, one of my favorite bands from the 70s, opened for Thin Lizzy at this show

3. It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll) - Lemmy feat. Jake E. Lee
4. Blue Suede Shoes - Lemmy & The Upsetters

Side B

3. Paradise - Lemmy & The Upsetters

5. Train Kept a Rollin' (Live 1978) - Motörhead

I found this album on Motörhead's @bandcamp
It comes in a gatefold cover on translucent blue vinyl

Good fun all around, and a must-have for me
