At Nowzad, our mission every day is driven by a simple, unwavering belief: animals caught in conflict zones deserve a second chance.
Right now, our dedicated teams are working tirelessly on the ground in Afghanistan and Ukraine - rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating the forgotten victims of war. All the many stray dogs, cats, and working animals caught up in the devastation and aftermath.
This work is dangerous, demanding, but utterly vital.
Our new video gives you a glimpse into the heart of what we do and the incredible resilience of the animals we save.
Your donation is high-value currency in the lives of these distressed animals. Even a small contribution can make a life-changing difference for one dog or cat, a donkey or a horse.
Please take a moment to watch and see the difference YOU help us make.
Every single day.

🐾 Happy Monday Adoptions Pupdate! 🐾 Karty & Kiki are home 💜

What better way to start the week than with with two new homecomings!

Handsome & gentle Karty Dog 🐶 has arrived home & is settling in brilliantly. He’s already enjoying his comfy new bed, his toys, & all the love & attention from his new family, who absolutely adore him.

Kiki Cat 🐱, our beautiful tripaw girl, has taken to home life like a natural. She loves watching TV, soaking up cuddles, & making herself right at home.

Having both suffered injuries as youngsters, Karty & Kiki needed special families willing to give them the chance they deserved. Thanks to their amazing adopters, they now have bright futures full of love, comfort, & happiness. 🖤

Thank you to everyone who donated towards their funding goals. You helped make these life-changing journeys possible.

Tomorrow we’ll be sharing our weekly appeal for more special needs animals waiting to reach their forever families.

Together, we’re turning hope into reality. 🙌🏻🐾

Happy new lives Karty & Kiki! It’s a total joy to see you safe & embracing life. We can’t wait to watch you blossom even more in your wonderful new homes.

4 Months, 1 van, & a whole lot of heart! 🖤🐾

If anyone ever tells you that multitasking isn’t an extreme sport, show them this video…Meet Pen: Driver, full-time lifeline, & official maestro of the steering-wheel air-drums. 🥁

Believe it or not, this year alone, Pen has spent a staggering collective total of 4 months behind the wheel, delivering vital aid to animals & their carers right across Ukraine 🇺🇦.

Between dodging grey zones with a chorus of cargo-bay cats & dogs 🐈🐕🎶 , & flooring his trusty truck under drone nets with the sounds of conflict echoing in the distance, it’s safe to say that even his GPS has seen things it will never forget. 💥

Sure, the hours are long, the driving is stressful, & the back-seat passengers aren’t always great conversationalists... but look at that smile! 🤩

From all of the @nowzadrescue staff & your supporters, THANK YOU Pen! 🤗
Thank you for every single mile, every saved paw, & every impossible dash. You’ve made an incredible difference!! 🙌🏻💙💛

...Now, get back home safely, & get some rest please, because we hear November’s trip is already on the cards! 🏃‍♂️🗺️

We are beyond happy that our Mobile Vet Unit has found its way to the amazing people at 12 Guards - for it to continue providing TNVR on wheels in remote villages around eastern Ukraine - where stray animal populations are absolutely out of control. Here are Pen and Nina handing over the keys to Ksenia in Dnipro this morning..

With a team of Ukrainian vets ready to jump onboard it will be their means of providing immediate roadside assistance to any injured or poorly abandoned or stray animals they come across.

Thank you to every single one of you who made this ambulance happen for Ukraine.

It isn’t goodbye though! We’ll meet up with this new ambulance team again early next year and will be sure to show you any photos and videos we get from the frontlines of work along the way!

Let’s set the record straight & focus on what actually matters.
Message from Pen...
Myself & the team spent yesterday out on the road across Dnipro delivering aid, completely unaware of the even wider repercussions of the drone attack on my good friend Ksenia’s house & the ARK evac team.

The photos of the drone strike to her roof & what was happening to her house were sent directly to me by Ksenia, as we discussed what on earth she should do. As she told me yesterday – they are in a living hell there.

😞 Tragically, Jesse Adams — an absolute legend for animals here in Ukraine — was in the van outside Ksenia’s house at the time, & lost his life in the dreadful attack. We never crossed paths but I wished I could have had the chance to shake his hand. A true hero for the animals here, and our absolute & heartfelt condolences go to Jesse’s family,
Responding firefighters were targeted by a follow-up drone, whilst the terrified animals who were inside Ksenia’s house ready to be evacuated were released on to the street - for their own safety. They are now loose in the area.

All of this devastation was caused entirely by a Russian attack on innocent people like Jesse & Ksenia who were simply trying to help the animals & people of Kramatorsk.

As it often happens though – THAT back story has gotten lost in social media discussions when THAT is the only thing that really matters.

Please — if you can, help Nowzad raise £5,000 over the next few days so Ksenia at least has somewhere safe to rest her head between her increasingly desperate evacuation runs - getting families & animals away from the frontlines.

📲 The link to donate will be in our bio section.
Thank you so much, and please keep Ukraine in your prayers 🙏🏻 🇺🇦

«It is absolute hell, and we live in it every single day.» - Ksenia’s words, today.

Just a couple of hours ago, we shared the moment our Ukraine team met the one-and-only Ksenia to hand over the «Ambo» evacuation vehicle — replacing her previous one that was damaged in an FPV drone strike.

But yesterday, disaster struck again. We have just heard from Ksenia and she has told us that her home is gone - it was a Russian FPV drone strike.

A second strike hit the responding fire truck, wounding firefighters and leaving her home to burn to the ground.

Ksenia had spent yesterday morning evacuating rescued animals and bringing them there, but thankfully they were pulled from the burning building before any died.

Despite losing everything, this incredible woman absolutely refuses to give up, and just keeps on risking her life to rescue people and animals from the frontlines.

We urgently need to raise £5,000 to find Ksenia a safe place to live nearby so she has a roof over her head and can keep going.

🙏 Please, please help us support Ksenia by donating or sharing this post.

Thank you. What more can we say :( by @penfarthing

‘Hay’ there! 👋🏻
We need to say a huge THANK YOU to our amazing supporters who have helped us to reach & surpass our fundraising goal for the Emergency Hay Appeal! 🙌🏻

We urgently needed £20,000 to feed the rescued horses through the forthcoming winter in Ukraine, and your incredible generosity has done it! 🇺🇦

This weekend, all the hay has been delivered to the Horse Paradise sanctuary, which Pen will show you here.

And whilst we are so grateful for your support in getting to our target, the work never stops of course, so any further donations will be used directly to help more animals…thank you again!

As you may well have seen on social media last week, our brave friends at Druzi Space NGO in Kramatorsk — led by the fearless Ksenia — suffered a devastating loss when an FPV drone strike destroyed one of their main evacuation vehicles.

These vehicles are absolute lifelines. Without them, rescue missions in vulnerable frontline areas simply cannot happen. Thanks to generous supporters across the animal rescue community, they can often be fixed or maintained — but this time, a full replacement was needed urgently. Nowzad jumped right into action to secure a new evacuation van and keep Ksenia’s life-saving work moving forward.

This special vehicle — affectionately named «Ambo» — comes with an incredible backstory of community support. The idea came from Michelle at Buddies Freedom Transport, who saw the desperate need for vehicles in Ukraine while temporarily using «Ambo» herself. With the kind agreement of owners Jacqui and Steve Honour, Michelle launched a GoFundMe, boosted by a fundraiser from Sarah Angel and her Spiritual Friends. Fitted with heavy-duty, impact-resistant crates, power, A/C, and even a kettle for the long journey, Ambo is perfectly equipped for frontline rescue work.

Right now, our brilliant Trustee Tony is bombing across Europe in «Ambo», driving non-stop to deliver this vehicle directly to Ksenia by this weekend. This will ensure Druzi Space can get straight back to rescuing, protecting, and evacuating vulnerable animals from harm’s way in Kramatorsk.

A massive thank you to Michelle, Buddies Freedom Transport, Sarah Angel, Jacqui and Steve Honour, our fab Adoptions Manager Jen (and Martin of course), Tony and all of you - our incredible supporters - for making this whole journey possible! 🐾❤️

Sometimes it takes a mate like Lach, to let you know you have deceived the public.
So here goes.
Yes we used AI on the first photo with me and the amazing and very lovely @thevickimichelle Lach has kindly highlighted the AI enhanced aspects of the photo in a red circle.
For clarity he asked me to post the actually size of my arms (photo2).
