THE SPEAKING TURTLE (or DIVINATORY TURTLE)
Fanorona (checkers’ like game from East Africa), 19 x 33 x 3cm
Set of 34 pawns of heterogeneous origins,
each pawn is to be considered as an art piece per se.

Do you feel stuck? Do you have a question you want to ask to Life, or the Universe, or God? Come with your doubts, fears, weaknesses: the Speaking Turtle might be able to answer them. You’ll be asked to choose among a certain number of figures to be placed on the board. Depending on what you choose and how you place them, the Turtle will tell a certain story and give, if not answers, hints. After hearing the story, you’ll be offered the opportunity to change the placement of three pawns, rewritting so the story of yours.
Be carefull when you choose your question and when you move the figures, for the Turtle is a powerfull magical device! Just as the board is a reflection of the bigger picture of your life, what happens on the microcosm of it is reflected in its macro-correspondent… and this game can only be played once.

_ The readings shown in the pictures of this post have happened within the frame of Maremoto, a collective art exhibition organized by @peninsula_dotland that took place in @kuenstlerhaus.bethanien, thanks to the wonderfull effort of @studio__christian_niccoli and the whole team of the Peninsula members. The beautiful curation is the fruit of @verenaosthoff ‘s work. A big thank you to all of them and to the visitors who let themselves go off to the magic of the game!
Special thanks to @jakubln for his beautiful pictures of the moment.

✨✨✨

Exhibition shots and snippets from the opening of Maremoto curated by @verenaosthoff this weekend at Kunstquartier Bethanien Projektraum. Thank you @peninsula_dotland for putting together such a huge show… these photos are of course just a small part. Wonderful to also show the space with @miglioratistudio, @_suzanne.levesque_ and @yvonneandreini whose work I know and love.
